| Infernostrider09-21-07, 03:40 PM | will i spend all my money on equipment VASTLY inferior to what i'll find on my travels, kick back and relax? or will i listen to the old woman who tipped me off, telling me to cross the Giants forest, venture into the cave of no return and find the armor of invincibility! |
| odinsmightytoad09-21-07, 03:55 PM | Um..... Are you sure it's not the Armoire of Invincibility? |
| albinomonkeyking09-21-07, 05:29 PM | I'm assuming that you are asking if you should buy better equipment or wait and see what you get from enemies and such? Easy answer. Most DM's roll their treasure randomly, although some feel the need to drop things in the treasure they know their players will want. So, I would buy to your hearts content. If you are smart about your equipment it won't ever screw you. On the other hand, if your DM says magic items won't be easy to buy (as in you can't get everything you might want) I would be cautious in buying and only grab good buys. |

Obviously. Dave |
| progresslevel909-29-07, 06:43 PM | You will not spend all your money on vastly inferior equipment. Obviously. Dave Indeed; you will spend it on things that will be quite useful, until you can get even better. You have to survive to get that Armoire, y'know. You're not doing it naked. Unless you're a Druid, or into that. |
| Thubby09-29-07, 07:03 PM | buy equipment you don't expect to find. magic armor and weapons are a dime a dozen, decanter of endless water? not so much. |
| Prator_the_Legendary09-29-07, 07:25 PM | I think you should give all your money to the party rogue, who will give you absolutely nothing in exchange. Failing that, the party evoker can take the money from you to buy scrolls and liquor for use on the party healer. |
| Serrin09-29-07, 07:45 PM | Or you could just retire. I mean, you've got a ton of gold now, right? Alternatively, just buy the Sword of Killing Things. |
| StevenO09-29-07, 08:15 PM | If you have good treasure flow and magic item upgrades come from encounters often enough then just spend you gold on those utility items you want. If the treasure you find is always completely random and rarely useful then buy what you want; you randomly find something to replace your purchase with do so and look at it as if you already had the "good stuff" and what your replacing is the random treasure that wouldn't do you much good. |

| Starcloud09-29-07, 11:45 PM | Other than that, yeah, it's all sound advice. :) |
