May i begin saying i'm the PC and my DM has become a jackass with this new campign he is running.

First off he made this campign off Lord of the rings which D&D is not second the compliant i have over is our damn druid.

Awhile back about 2 campigns ago i was a druid and i was Nuetral Evil my idea for my Druid was Out of Death Comes life so i killed and killed eventually paladins came after me and smited me.

Well this new campign a new player is doing a ghsalt druid and he's Druid/Monk and Lawful Nuetral he has the same ****en conspet because the DM told him of my last character and also since the DM is REALLY good buddies with him.

Well the problem i have is the guys alignment he's Lawful nuetral in a Lawful Evil campign plus he wants to destroy all in his way and scare the land with fire.

What do you guys think is he breaking any rules with alignment or any rules period. I'm so confused i need help >_<

Punctuation and grammar are your friends...

Anyhow, it doesn't sound to me like the individual you're talking about is playing Lawful Neutral very well. Thing about it is, there's this kind of "side definition" of Lawful Neutral when it comes to Monks that has less to do with balance (i.e., the Neutral component) than with discipline (the Lawful component). 3rd Edition did a good job of essentially defining the neutral alignments not as a questing after balance, but as a lack of compunction one way or the other along either the good/evil or lawful/chaotic axis. For instance, someone who's Neutral in alignment honestly doesn't care one way or the other about Law or Chaos, or Good or Evil; they're going to do what's most expedient to get the job done, according to their own moral compass. They inherently recognize that helping others is a "good" thing, and that causing pain is a "bad" thing, but as far as a dedication to one of the moral alignments (Good/Evil) or social alignments (Lawful/Chaotic), they just don't choose a side. It gives them some freedom, and is also something of a hindrance at higher levels, when PCs tend to go to the Outer Planes a lot more, which are very oriented along the lines of the nine alignments (with some shifting on some of the lesser-aligned planes like Acheron or Bytopia).

It sounds like alignments might not be of paramount importance in this campaign anyway, despite it being labeled a "Lawful Evil" campaign. Sometimes there are games like that; they aren't "wrong", they're just one particular way of playing the Dungeons & Dragons game. That's the nice thing about this game: There's a lot of leeway in how it can be played, and most of the time it's "right". This doesn't mean it's preferable, but if everyone involved is having fun, then they're playing the game the "right" way.

This being said, if you aren't having fun, and feel some undue favoritism is being showed this friend of your Dungeon Master's, pull the DM aside outside of the game, maybe in between sessions, and let him know (politely!) about your concerns. Then open-mindedly listen to what he has to say, and see what happens from there. Worst-case scenario, you leave the game because you aren't having fun, and you find another group to play with. Best-case scenario is he might not realize he was showing favoritism, and he'll change his ways to be more even-handed.

Killing for the sake of killing is evil. He should lose either his monk or druid class. (become a "fallen" druid OR a "fallen" monk)

killing for the sake of killing is Chaotic Evil, and something no druid would do. A gestalt is probably ECL X2, as he has the best of both classes.

The DM is right in maiking you lawful evil if you were lawful neutral. A character's alignment is very important for characters such as the druid, monk, cleric and paladin as they lose many abilities if they stray. In terms of roleplaying as well, the DM should enforce alignments as it helps you stay in character.

It's really not as bad as it could be. Gestalt Druid/Monk are almost identical in all aspects other than special abilities, of which the Unarmed Strike and Wild Shape don't synergize very well. A Gestalt Druid/Barbarian would have been much smarter.

Anyhow, back on topic... any time you've got DM buddies being granted special abilities simply because they're DM buddies, it is usually bad.

And any time the DM buddy is killing everything and laying waste to the earth, roleplaying alignment is probably not that big of a deal.

Sorry... but you're hideously wrong...

Gestalt Druid/Monk is the most powerful gestalt in the game. Druids are the by far most powerful base class, and this allows a druid to add his Wisdom (the only stat he ever needed) to what should already be a huge AC due to natural armor. The result is a nigh-invincible character, which is probably why Unearthed Arcana only mentioned the (much weaker) Cleric/Monk. Indeed, I would go so far as the give a Druid/Monk gestalt a +3 LA instead of the usual +2.

Now, in this case, the gestalt character really should become neutral evil, lose his monk class, become a 'fallen' monk, and lose... wait for it... absolutely nothing. In fact, he could take some other class (Warshaper or Nature's Warrior would be ideal) and become EVEN MORE POWERFUL.

My advice? Demand to play a gestalt PC (and ask around on the CharOpt board so he's suitably powerful), wait for the invincible force of nature's brutality to run out of good spells and get seriously hurt, then waste 'im. :smirk:

Or just find a better campaign.

Hello.

Note that there's nothing wrong with a Lawful Evil Monk.

Hello.

Note that there's nothing wrong with a Lawful Evil Monk.

except a druid can't be lawful evil, so he would then be a lawful evil monk/ex-druid.

perfect to become a blighter, who draws extra powers as long as s/he destroys so much fertile land each day.
