Hey folks. Went through an mod today, and we ended up fighting a bunch of ghouls. Why ghouls had Stench in the first place, I'll never know. Anyway, they all had Stench, and were making use of it. My warmage failed all four of hit Fort saves (one for each Stench-equipped Ghoul). The DM said that Sickened stacked with itself for each Ghoul with Stench. So in the period of one round, I had accumulated a -8 penalty to most things.

Does that even work? o.O Can you become sicker if you are sickened?

Your DM is wrong. Once you're sickened you're sickened. End of Story, you should have had -2 even if 400 were present.

Really? I mean, I know that it doesn't stack in that way with the cumulative -2 effects, but I always thought that sickened + sickened = nauseated until the duration on one of the effects expired and you went back to sickened in the same way that if you're fatigued and become fatigued again you upgrade to exhausted.

How about fear effects? I thought I remembered reading somewhere that shaken + shaken = frightened + frightened = panicked. Is that right?

Fear effects to progress but you are a bit off.

Shaken + shaken = frightened
Shaken + frightened = Panicked
Frightened + Shaken or Frightened = Panicked

Sickened and Naueseated do not do that in any way shape or form. They are separate but you can (technecially) have both at the same time. Its just it becomes redundent.

Ah, okay thanks. Good to know.
