Okay guys, I've got this character that im going to be playing soon. It will be my first time actually playing 1) A dual wielding character 2) A spiked chain and 3) Someone using abnormally sized items. IF you dont care, just check over my math relating to damage and attack bonuses. Thanks!

Str 15 (+2)
Dex 18 (+4)
Fighter 5
BAB: +5
Exotic Weapon proficiency (Spiked chain)
Monkey Grip
Weapon Finesse
Two Weapon Fighting
Combat Reflexes

In the primary hand, a Spiked Chain +1. 2d4+3 damage. (ill leave my attack bonus till later, youll see why)
In the offhand I will wield Either
A) Small sized trident, d6+1 damage
B) Medium trident, d8+1 damage.

Now for the attack bonus calculations (see there was a reason- two possible sets of attack bonuses :P )

First, chain + small trident
+8/ +7 [5+4+1-2 bab/dex(via finesse)/magic/two weapon fighting]
and then Chain + medium trident
6/3 [5+4+1-4 bab/finesse/magic/twf]/[5+2-4 bab/str/twf]

If you guys see anything i've goofed in the process, just lemme know. Thanks!

Oh, and if your wondering WTF was zorm thinking when he made this? I'm loosely basing this character off the roman gladiator who used a net and trident.

Hmm sorry I'm not smart enough to go through the maths ;)

but...

the Spiked Chain is a two handed weapon.
And also I don't know if you've incorporated this, but unless you're using 3.0 rules, you get a -2 penalty for each size category that a weapon isn't sized for you.

Maybe someone could clarify, but I think technically (not sensibly) the small trident would count as a one handed weapon not sized for you, so -4 from TWF and -2 from being the wrong size :P

But the numbers are a bit hard to read for poor addled folk like me, sorry, I usually put it like this
+3(bab) +1(Weapon Focus) etc...

SPiked chain being 2 handed makes the whole build in need of a redo.

monkey grip is also a -2 penalty.

Have to find the other books for the rest.

Spiked chain is held via monkey grip in one hand. I missed that -2 for monkey grip and the wrong sized trident.

Corrected Attack bonuses:
First, chain + small trident
+6/ +5 [5+4+1-2-2/-2 bab/dex(via finesse)/magic/two weapon fighting/monkeygrip-wrong sized trident]
and then Chain + medium trident
4/3 [5+4+1-4-2 bab/finesse/magic/twf/monkey grip]/[5+2-4 bab/str/twf]

Those were actually the numbers i had on my character sheet before posting, @ time of posting I forgot about monkey grip and the wrong sized trident and changed my sheet lol. time to go back to what it was :P

Aight, thanks guys. I knew i had those numbers for some reason :P

Hmmmm... Monkey Grip won't let you hold a Spiked Chain in one hand, it will let you hold a LARGE spiked chain in two hands instead of not being able to wield it. Then there's still a -2 penalty...

So I don't really know of a good way to work this outside of a reasonable DM agreeing to something slightly not RAW but still fun ... though there is a Net/Trident fighting style in Complete Warrior.

Bingo

Essentially, you can use a larger category weapon using the same amount of hands that the weapon would require, hence you can use a large spiked chain in two hands, not a spiked chain in one hand.

By RAW, you cant use the spiked chain in one hand, nor can you use a trident in the off hand. The off hand can be a larger light weapon but not a melee weapon.

SOunds like I am just echoing stabs, but as I took the time to look it up, I figured might as well post it. And yes the net and trident style feat in complete warrior might be a way to go.

All of that aside, if it was in my game I believe I would let you do it. I might regretit slightly later, but it does sound like an interesting combo. Good luck getting your DM to approve it.

Okay, let me just add, I am the DM, and I approved it about a month ago when I was first preparing the campaign, so.....for the purposes of this, extend monkey grip to allow weilding a (normally two-handed) weapon in one hand at the normal monkey grip penalties. Granted I missed the error, but had I noticed it then, I probably would have allowed it in the interest of giving Zorm a fun character.

Oh....and for the record, never watch the movie, Cry Wolf (http://www.crywolfmovie.com/).....well, unless you're as big a fan of bad movies with hot redheads (http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=Lindy+Booth&btnG=Search) as I am.
