should I go with Swashbuckler for combat or Barbarian
Should I go with Blue Dragon or Red Dragon or Black Draon
Should I go with Sorc or Bard

Thanks

For a dragon diciple I would go with Sorc for flavor and spells per day. Then Barbarian for rage... Dragon Deciple doesnt provide a Charisma Boost untill level 10 but it does provide an Int Boost at level 8. You might be better off going Wizard over Sorc in that case. But why a dragon deciple? Thier are better PrC's out their that can grant a Dragonesk flavor. Most of theese are located in Races of the Dragon.

Of course if you don't *have* races of the dragon...

I would go with taking the Half-Dragon template instead, because you're only screwing yourself out of three levels instead of ten. If you can't do that, maybe Dragonborn of Bahamut. If not that, then just make the draconic stuff flavor and get creative with descriptions of class abilities.

Alternatively, Dragon Devotee seems like a good 5-level class. Good stat boosts, couple of bonus feats, and two boosts to sorc casting - and it gives you the casting if you didn't have it already. Better deal that Dragon Disciple, I'd think.

And with a half dragon template you can even get the LA buy off from Unearthed Arcana to lower the LA and not loose any levels at all

However, as a medium creature half dragon, you don't get wings. That's the main disadvantage.

Their is a feat for that in the Races of the dragon...

In case the DM won't allow straight up half dragon. I would use a elf (wood) or half-orc for the base race. Then start with barbarian, multi either into bard or warmage. Get Dragon Disciple at 5th level. I would also try to get Green Star Adept if you are looking at getting more defensive/offensive character. Thats my 2 cents. :whatsthis

I would actually suggest the Duskblade from the PHB2 as a base class, since it covers all of the requirements and is a melee-focused class, which synergizes well with the Dragon Disciple.

I'm making a character for Living Greyhawk. I wanted to use the bard because of inspire courage + cure light wounds. the combat part is whats throwing me off. I'm considerng using Spiked Chain for my primary weapon. And thanks to everyone for the responses.

I hope you're not in Highfolk. Dragon Disciples are hunted on sight unless you have special documentation.

My favourite combination is bard4/barb2/DD10/XX???.

Sorc1/Paladin4/DD10/XX??? is not a bad idea either. The trick is to apply the bonus spell slots to your paladin spellcasting instead, netting you tons of uses of bless weapons and restorations. You also get turn undead uses to fuel your divine feats.

I recall some sort of "cyberdragon" themed build, which combined green star adept with dragon disciple. You combine 2 lvs of sorc with 4 lvs of GSA to get 2nd lv spells (hurray for wrathstrike), then enter DD, thus allowing you to get a lot of 2nd lv slots. But the build takes quite long to manifest itself though.

Says that Southern Cali is Nyrond, Highfolk is Wisconsin. I am not sure what Nyrond politics are like. In Highfolk it's elf lands and quite a bit of elven politics. Right now there is feud going on in some of the elf houses. This is real nice since we border the lands of Iuz :( .
