Help! I need somebody. Help! Not just anybody ... heeeeelllppp (guitar)

I am going to play a beguiler into dragon disciple. What do you guys think though?

I was also considering being a sorcerer and taking all dragon heritage feats, but I want her to be a little bit of a scrapper. (Which beguilar gives her light armor.)

But I just got Unearthed Arcana (like ten minutes ago) and I see they have Dragon Bloodlines ...

... using the books:
CM
CW
CAdventure
CArcane
RoS (races of Stone)
RoD (Races of Destiny)
RoW
PHB
PHBII
DMG
UA
Exalted Deeds

Can you think of anything else that might add good skills/abilities/flavor to a character?
OR
Something you had fun doing?
OR
Did you like playing a Dragon Disciple?

The one thing that dragon disciple is REALLY good for is boosting an already extensively leveled arcane spellcaster. At epic, you can tack the bonus spell slots you get onto the 9th (or even 10+th) level spell area to get lots and lots of your most powerful spells. However, since IIRC you don't gain caster levels, even this trick is really only good in a gestalt campaign.

This is what I've seen from Dragon Disciple builds that take the class early- it makes a good caster into a mediocre/bad caster, a good melee character into a decent one (with a big STR bonus), and is generally not the best choice.

Usually you're better off just getting the half-dragon template (It's in the Monster Maunal). Sure, you don't get the bonus spells, but without increases to your caster level, you'll just end up with a TON of 3rd level spells, the inability to penetrate SR, and a ten-level lag in casting. The level adjustment only delays your casting by three levels, gives you all the bonuses at once, and can be burned off using the rules in unearthed arcana by level 18. Those class levels, on the other hand...

If you don't want to start as a half-dragon (the hardest part) , see if your DM will allow a draconic version of the spell that grants the half-fiend template (I don't recall the name, but it's from the book Lost Empires of Faerun) that you might be able to discover and cast on yourself.

the DD prc is not mean for pure caster builds. It was designed primarily fighter builds with just a splash of spellcasting to augment their combat prowess, such as barb4/sorc1/DDX and the like.:)

Yeah, now that I've sat down and actually started building him(actually her) ... I see that the DD is moreso a second-rank fighter. And maybe a little bit of a utility person.

The whole flavor of the class will work well in the campaign, I have just never built one before.

We may be playing in an urban, city dense campaign. So, I'll be playing her as a member of the Dragon Cult. Like some subversive underground cult, looking to gain power. Whereas ... beguiler into that ... I think is genuis.
(although I just got UE, and the battle sorcerer is also a great route)
