| jecht01-01-07, 04:45 PM | Im going to be playing in a solo campaign and Im considering being dragon shamon 1-20. so I have two questions: Can a dragon shaman keep up* in a solo campaign and does anybody know the epic progression of a dragon shaman ( particularly bonus feats) also if theres is any thing else I need to know please enlighten me as I have very little in game experience * I dont want to be the most powerful character ever, I just wanna have fun and not be nearly killed every encounter another thing, is there anything I can cross class into that will go well with the shaman? |

You should be fine in your solo campaign, healing before level 4 will be tougher, but nothing too bad. There is no specific epic progression for dragon shamans, at least not in the PHB2. There might be one in Dragon Magic, don't have that book. I personally would grant the shaman his level-dependant class features at their standard increments after 20th, with bouns feats every three levels beyond 20, and call it a day. |

If the DM were to not pull punches, I don't think a Dragon Shaman would do well on their own, seeing as they are more of a support character. They're not ideal tanks, they're not very powerful fighters... Unless, of course, you get an NPC Ally from the DM. That would work rather well. As for multiclassing, Dragon Shaman seems more like the thing you would multiclass into than away from. It blends decently with any non-caster class. |

Maybe if you can talk your DM into gestalt or something and make a character who uses DS on one side of the build. I also agree Dragonfire Adept is a far stronger solo class with much the smae flavor of a DS |

They're very good in a party-support role, but that's completely missing if you're going solo. If you're looking for other dragon-related options, another possibility to consider would be a Duskblade/Dragon Disciple combination, probably using Arcane Strike to make his attacks more effective. |

Dragon Shamans are best not Multi-Classed imo as this stops the develpoment of the weapons which only really kick in at level 8+ You do have two very interesting abiliies though that could make it possible. Firstly you healing aura, When I said to the party that they are all now at 1/2 there hits points they nearly died of shock! It really is a good ability and one that should mean you can get home no matter what! That you become 100% immune to a type of energy (Say Fire). Then whenever you become really threaten just throw down a bit of fire wherever you are!.. Crispy Enemies! Good Luck |
