beenyboboo 08-14-07, 08:27 PM	i am i hight level fighter 13th that is an undead nothing special. i need help with the war with the elfs so im going to talk to the drows. what i need adcvice on is how could i get the drows to come help like what i can offer them stuff like that later
Azezel 08-15-07, 07:21 AM	Erm... Well, working on your comunication skills couldn't hurt. Nah, that's cruel. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume English is not your first language. Drow never do anything charitable. If you want their help, you'll have to make it worth their while. Your best bet is to approach one Drow house and offer it something which gives it a concrete tactical advantage over its rivals. Never offer something which makes the Drow as a whole more powerful. It is in no-one's interest to make all Drow more poerful, they'll just come after you next. If your character is male, he will be at a disadvantage in negotiations. Drow society is massivly sexist. Hire a female negotiator. As a 15th level character, you have access to a lot of bargaining chips, offer to trade magic items, or spells (You're a fighter, but someone in your party is probably a caster) first. Information is always a good incentive, but it is harder to use effectively in negotiations. The other alternative is to take the low road. Do not approach the Drow and ask for their help, instead, plant false information that causes the Drow to attack the Elves you dislike, without the Drow being aware that they are doing your dirty work. Be warned, if you are caught doing this, then you're spider food.

I'll argue that information is the only true thing of value that you will have to offer the drow. Spells they have aplenty. Magic items they can make or steal. Gold they have enough of - remember, this race effectively rules the massive underground empire that is the Underdark. The drow have many allies, but no true friends - even among their own race! Their society is matriarchal, sexist like you can't imagine, and absolutely paranoid. Drow cities war upon drow cities, Houses within each city war upon the other Houses. Alliances are temporary at best, and last only as long as one party finds a use for the other. Other than that, Azezel's advice is sound.
