| Marendithas_the_Necro10-17-06, 06:02 PM | -1 http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20061010a I want to do a drow druid with maybe a elemental compagnion maybe earth. What do you think about have those elementals compagnions? You rocks on the few lvl you have it but after you suck. Example: lvl4 :D medium earth elemental lvl7  I'm stuck again with that crap of elemental and the druid would have dire wolf ... so on lvl 16  now we're getting somewhere we have a huge elemental vs dire tiger or t-rex so it's good. What I think it's good for NPC's and on later lvl but I don't to have 3 goods lvl vs 3 poor lvl what do you think of that? Maybe that could help: The elementals altough they are huge gains, evasion and improved evasion -2 How would you RP a drow druid? I've never hearded of that so It's why i'm requesting help. |
| KnaveofClubs10-17-06, 09:38 PM | To help you, I've done a drow druid and I can tell you why I would think an elemental companion is kinda overpowered unless properly added in. The elementals are of course, elemental. They are immune to many things being both outsiders and having an elemental (fire/earth/air/water) subtype. The best bet for incorporating elementals is to compare CRs of animal companions that are available to you for the lvl adjustments. As for drow druid roleplaying, drows and druids usually don't mix. The only reason I had a drow druid npc once was because he was captured and brainwashed by a nearby lizardfolk tribe. If it is supposed to be an evil drow (by god I hope your not rolling drow because of drizzt) their personality would be something like this. An evil druid goes to great lengths to protect the wild, murdering hunters and torturing those that travel into the wilds. A drow druid would not be able to live among their kin no matter what unless the DM modified drow culture. |

For the elemental I don't think after all, that's a good idea. because after all, like you said they are elementals... so they are immune to a lot's of thing so: Stay with the animals! |
| babysamurai10-18-06, 10:55 AM | The elementals are of course, elemental. They are immune to many things being both outsiders and having an elemental subtype. They are not Outsiders, and there is no such thing as the Elemental subtype. Elementals are of the creature type “Elemental”. |
| KnaveofClubs10-18-06, 05:16 PM | I'm still stuck in the midset of going between the 3.0 and 3.5 versions where in 3.0 elementals were outsiders with the fire/air/water subtype. They are nonetheless immune to many of the same things being extraplanar and having no real metabolic system. These immunities include but are not limited to: poison, starvation, suffocation, sleep, paralysis, stun, cits, flanking, and the specific elemental damage they are attuned to. These are all things to be taken into consideration when trying to adjust something for house rules. I alos clarified what I meant by the "elemental subtype" in my edited post above. |

A lot of druidic spells either don't work or don't work as well in an outdoors type of enviroment. If your campaign is set in the Underdark you'll find yourself somewhat hindered (but given what a druid can do that's not really a problem.) |

| KnaveofClubs10-19-06, 11:26 AM | I’m pretty sure even in 3.0, Elementals were “Elementals”, not “Outsiders”. Just checked, you are right they are elementals. But still, I stand by my previous argument. |
| babysamurai10-19-06, 11:31 AM | Just checked, you are right they are elementals. But still, I stand by my previous argument. Oh, I agree – plants, constructs, undead and elementals are all a pain in the ass, with all of their immune to this, not affected by that etc. |
