Hello I am makeing a 10th level Drow Wizard that is trying to carve out a kindgom for himself on the surface since because of his gender he is always at a disavantage in the underdark. He is going to have leadership so he can recurit male drow to serve as his army. I was haveing some trouble thinking up a good background so was hopeing that I could get some ideas here.

Noble families tend to repress the males more than the poor drow, relatively speaking, so maybe your character could be nobly born, and have his sisters boss him around all the time.
It's common sense for a cunning male (such as your character) to be sent to a wizards academy, so no problems there.

Of course, when he gets around to 7th level or so in the academy (assuming he decided to stay that long, of course), his sisters might feel threatened by this sudden increase in power (with such spells as Phantasmal Killer under the wizards belt!), but since your character's mother (hopefully) sees your potential, she forbids them from killing you.
This would eventually lead to a rather nasty case of sibling rivalry, as your character and his sister try to win their mother's favor.

After that, maybe your wizard made some mistake, maybe a bad omen surrounding him got word; either way, his mother decided that your wizard was better off dead. Perhaps the entire clergy of whatever city your wizard came from thought the same, forcing him to flee into the surface or die.

Anyone would be embittered after something like that, perhaps enough to make your wizard want to forge your own drow city. Maybe he returned to your birthplace undercover, and attempted to convert other males to his view without drawing the eye of the priestesses (Hence, Leadership).
Perhaps your wizard made a truce (somehow) with a nearby surface settlement, which he may or may not intend to break later on when your city is strong enough.

If you're playing in Forgotten Realms, then Vhaeraun would make a pretty fitting deity, being all about "Drow males should rule!"

Just a few suggestions, hope they helped.
