Druid in wildshape as a mount [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-07-06, 04:19 AM As a druid if you and your buddies are traveling and you allow someone to use you as a mount how do you go about combat? I figure you can attack as normal, however what about the rider? Can they guide you to attack on their turn, do they have to do ride checks when guiding with knees. I figure the rider doesn’t have to make control mount in battle check, but how would you treat druid acting as a player’s mount in combat?

(Blah I should've posted this in the DM section)

03-07-06, 04:27 AM Same as if the druid were simply carrying the other character. They each act on their own initiative, the rider may not control the druid (though he may make suggestions and the druid can choose to act on them or not when it's his turn), and the druid may suffer a drop in move speed or Dex mod to AC if the weight of the other character + equipment pushes him into the next encumbrance category.

And of course they both suffer tasteless jokes about "mounting" and "riding" if the other members of the party are immature.

If a druid has a huge sized animal companion, and wildshapes into a large creature, what should the rules be in order to stay on the mount. I was thinking of cat like creatures as the druids wildshape, and large bird like creatures as the mount.

One of the article deal about an intelligent mount, weither it is a druid wildshaped or simply a giant owl...
About a non-humanoid creature trying to ride on a mount, perhaps do they deal with this in this serie of articles, or in the serie about the familiars (weither they are "riding" their master or not...)
