Druids and Weapons [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-16-07, 06:01 PM In the ph it says Druids are proficient with the folling weapons: club, dagger, dart, longspear, quarterstaff, scimitar, sickle, shortspear, and sling.
My question is can I use a greatclub? I've looked through the ph and I havent been able to find anything that says no a druid can not use one. I've asked my DM and he isnt to sure either. Can someone please help a druid out?

02-16-07, 06:16 PM Actually, it does say that Druids can't use greatclubs: it's right there in the profiency list. Greatclubs aren't in it, so Druids will need to take a feat to use it without penalty. Now, if you wanted to houserule it otherwise, feel free: it always seemed kinda silly that a good size stick is a simple weapon, but a larger stick is a martial weapon.

02-16-07, 07:03 PM A druid can use one, they just have no proficiency with one. This isn't 3.0, where druids couldn't use certain weapons.

02-16-07, 09:05 PM Why bother with a great club, just grab yourself a stick and cast shillelagh. Does more damage than a great club too.

02-17-07, 01:46 PM Back in 3.0, Druids could only wield the weapons in their proficiency list, anything else would violate their oaths. Guess that got changed in 3.5.
