| GSonic702-13-07, 07:00 PM | On Saturday I'm going to be playing a mini campaign/long quest to help introduce a new player to my group. There are going to be four of us playing, and we are all starting at level 1 (we probably won't get past level 5, if that). So, we have: A bard A cleric (the new player) A warlock And me, a Duskblade (I picked it for the full BaB so we could have a melee fighter) So, for starting items, I have 150gp. I've picked out: Longsword (15gp) Studded Leather Armor (25gp) Buckler (15gp) Adventuring equipment (backpack, etc.) (20gp) Total of that (75gp) That leaves me with 75gp more to spend. I don't want to keep too much money on me, because I know the rest of the party will be fairly poor, and my character won't want to be lending money all the time to his (new) allies. I should probably get a new weapon, perhaps a shortbow and some arrows. Also, the DM wants the stats to be rolled when we're there, so I haven't picked any stats yet (obviously). I'm thinking somewhere around 12 in int, high strength and dex/con, depending on what race I am (elf or human). I'm thinking of being human for the bonus feat. I've never played anything other than a straight arcane caster, so what would be a good idea for feats? Since the rest of the party is also spell related, I'm thinking of being more combat oriented, with mainly a few blasting spells and buff/invisibilty, and True Strike. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Maybe a thunderstone or two? I don't have the PH in front of me, but I think they're about 30 gp. Or a couple of sunrods, which I believe are less than 10 gp each. Other than that, see if your DM will let you buy a few potions of CLW, which are usually about 25 gp each. Of course, the Shortbow w/ Arrows is also a good investment. |

Fighting skeles without a blunt weapon sucks. You should have a short bow and a few arrows at least. Also make sure you get a grappleing hook and Rope. Good rope will save your butt more times that you will care to admit. And if your human, you'll need a light. get a handfull of tourches. And if all your using for a shield is a buckler, then drop the longsword for a two handed weapon. Or just get a better shield. |
