I have a question about the Duskblade Class.
In the Class Features section it says that Duskblades are proficient with all Martial Weapons (so obviously this just means they have the [Martial Weapon Proficiency] feat). It mentions nothing about Simple Weapons however. Is this correct? I find it hard to believe that a class can be proficient with all these different forms of weapons, but not know how to use a simple dagger? I assume this is a typo and they are actually Proficient with Simple Weapons as well but I just want some confirmation.

Common concensus is that this is in fact a typo. It is safe to assume that since duskblades can use martial weapons proficiently, they are also able to use simple weapons like the dagger and club equally well; some sticklers for the RAW have argued contrary to this position, but they seem to be in the minority.

-Peace-

P.S. duskblades need quite a few things addressed in the FAQ, and a little bit of errata, but don't hold your breath on seeing it anytime soon; WotC hasn't issued any new errata in eons.

Don't take this the wrong way if you're playing as one, but I think that the Duskblade class is completely *broken*. One of the guys in my group is playing as a Dwarf Duskblade, and can basically destroy everything in our path...maybe he just plays the class well? IDK. I can't say, I've never seen anyone else play a duskblade.

I agree, I think there power is a little high in the lower levels. Example, here is a quite simple boss killer for a level 3!!! Duskblade

Round 1: Cast True Strike, move toward enemy.

Round 2: Cast Enhanced Blade of Blood (+3d6 dmg) (swift) - Cast channeled Shocking Grasp (+3d6) Attack (lets say greatsword?

Due to true strike its about a guaranteed hit, then you have +6d6 from spells +2d6 from weapon . . .

8d6 of damage in 2 rounds? Worse yet you could do it in one if your confident in not using true strike.

Rogues cant accomplish that kind of 1 turn damage

Still they are low on spells/day, and they also lose power at higher levels.

I like them but i think they are a little bit much

They can dish out a lot of damage, but that's not what makes spellcasters dangerous. They don't have Dispel Magic or, IIRC, any save-or-dies, or divinations, or debuffs ... they're basically the melee version of a Warmage; they do a lot of damage, but that's about all.

Please people, the OP didn't ask for opinions on the power level of the duskblade, just some clarification on an error that was omitted from the weapon proficiencies.

No need to turn this into an X class is over/underpowered thread. If that was a concern, he would have stated so.

I have a question as well, no use making a new thread for it. Where are the 0-level spell list located for the Duskblade. I haven't looked into it much but back in the spell chapter the Duskblade's spell list starts off at 1st, not 0-level.

As for the OP's question IMO if you're proficient with Martial weapons, how could you not be with simple weapons? I mean if you know how to use a Halberd and a greatsword, than you should know how to poke some one with a Spear.

As many people have stated, if you can wield a great sword, logically you can wield a staff, or a dagger with no problem. IMO

The full duskblade spell list is on page 24, right after the example duskblades.

Don't feel bad as far as i can tell aproximately 1/5th of all people who want to play duskblades miss the spell list on page 24.

Good Weapon Selection: Duskblades are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, which gives them access to some of the best weapons in the game. You have plenty of combat options when your spells fail or when you feel the need to conserve your spells.

The same one that said the Divine Mind had a full base attack bonus when it's clearly 3/4?

Customer Service on the duskblade has said the same thing, though -- It's got Simple Weapon Proficiency. So in this case, Skip was right.

Maybe they fixed it but this is what I found for Divine Mind.

Good Attack Bonus: The divine mind's base attack bonus is 3/4 per level. When divine minds attack, they can expect to hit.
Though, yeah they sometimes make mistakes that is why I said "semi-official".

Note that the phrasing is essentially identical to his article on paladins and other +1/level fighters, and different from all of his other 3/4 level descriptions. That sentence shows clearly that the only change was from a "+1" to "3/4".
