ECL 4 level adjustment: a template search [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-08-05, 06:47 PM hello all, I'm looking for a template that's only a +4 LA. Any help? It's for a swashbuckler with some dexteriousness.

07-08-05, 06:52 PM If you want dex then take insectile and winged template in Savage Species. +8 dex +4 wis, insectile stuff and with the good dex perfect flight.

07-08-05, 06:54 PM preferably not the insectoid template. Anything else? I was thinking of chosen of mystra, but I'm not sure what LA that has.

07-08-05, 07:08 PM Natural lycanthrope has a +3 LA and some monster hit dice. Wererat takes up only one hit die and gives you a big bonus to dex in the alternate forms as well as Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat.
Of course there are some obvious reasons why you might not want to take it.

reptilian +2
multi headed(need to be large or larger ro have more than 2 heads)+2or more
tauric+ however many hit dice host creature has
symbiotic+1
half-vampire+2
lich+4
wererat+3 + 1HD
half-fey+2
woodling+3

07-08-05, 08:28 PM I ran a Shade once- LA+4, races of Faerun. It would be great for any Dex based warrior type, or a Rogue.

However- WARNING, WARNING, WARNING. Being 4 HD behind the rest of the PC's is very dangerous. You have less Hit points, and what's worse- less Hit Dice. There are several rather high levels spells (See Blasphemy) that affect you based upon your Hit Dice- and there is no save.

If I hadn't been a level higher than the rest of the party, my Shade would have been dead, dead, dead several times.

The Wemic (same book) is La+3 (but has 5 racial HD).
