| Stratazar11-14-06, 10:46 AM | i am trying to find out how to have my monks fists enchanted, magic weapon says they are treated like anyother weapon, but the DMG shows nothing on how does it work like the rest or do i have to pay more, any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Core, inexpensive (around 9k-ish for a 20th level caster), worth it in tandem with any other option except the Amulet of Mighty Fists. 3. Kensai Signature Weapon. Complete Warrior, your fists are treated as separate weapons, but because they do become magical weapons, and because of wording for enhancing already magic weapons, you can further enhance your fists using cash beyond the limit listed in the Kensai description (which allows you to just spend XP). If you don't go the TWFing route, this is the least expensive way to get weapon special abilities. 4. Necklace of Natural Weapons. Savage Species (3.0, hasn't been updated or disallowed, therefore it is technically allowed in 3.5 games), allows you to enchant natural weapons as a weapon, with special qualities available. How expensive it is depends on how many natural weapons you're enchanting... if you don't TWF, it simply costs the normal enhancement price plus 600 gold (or was it 300? *shrug*). If you can manage it with your DM, your best option is to combine 2, 3, and 4. Depending on how many kensai levels you take, the cost will be anywhere from a little XP to a lot of XP, and 210k ish to 408k ish for a single unarmed strike to be enchanted with the equivalent of +23 enhancement (+5 permanent Greater Magic Fang, +1 X Necklace of Natural Weapons, +1 X Signature Weapon (fists)) |
| Raxmei11-15-06, 03:03 PM | Magic of Faerun has a set of bracers that do it. Problems are the book is 4.0 so might not be allowed and the item takes up the slot normally used for bracers of armor. |
| ressurrector11-15-06, 03:31 PM | Actually, the Necklace of Natural Weapons is your best bet. -Base price of 600gp Plus enchantment bonuses (using weapon enchantment costs) -Affects all attacks using one specified natural weapon at the above cost. (meaning you can TWF your unarmed strikes as +1 flaming weapons, and only pay 8,600 gp total) -Allows actual enchantments, not just enhancement bonuses. -The example specifies both throwing and returning, you can throw your hands (or other body parts) at people for unarmed damage, and they reattach afterwards. |
| Millennium11-15-06, 03:38 PM | The Necklace of Natural Attacks actually was updated to 3.5, but they also renamed it: that's what the Amulet of Mighty Fists is. |
| Krusk11-15-06, 04:23 PM | Ask the dm if you can deal unarmed damage while wearing gauntlets. There is no reason I can think of why not, and then your set. Just enchant away. |
| Tytalus11-15-06, 05:10 PM | The Necklace of Natural Attacks actually was updated to 3.5, but they also renamed it: that's what the Amulet of Mighty Fists is. I doubt that. The Amulet of Mighty Fists was in 3.0 way before the Necklace of Natural Attacks came out (see Sword & Fist). |
| DarkNick11-15-06, 05:55 PM | Why do you want to enchant them? Maybe there is an alternative. (if you wait long enough at higher levels your natural weapons end up working as if enchanted anyway) One alternative is to use monk weapons as part of your unarmed attacks and enchant them. |
| DM Denubis11-16-06, 12:59 AM | That depends on if your hands are masterwork quality or not. There's no way to just pay money and apply special properties to your hands without taking Kensai levels. As an alternative, I recommend Gauntlets of the Dwarven Forge, from Complete Warrior. As they're a wondrous item, not a weapon, you can use your unarmed strike damage while still benefitting from the extra damage. They're very cheap, too. |
