| seTiny11-30-05, 02:35 PM | Try this forum on the wizards board: Gamer Classifieds (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=347) |
| Dylan0211-30-05, 02:37 PM | Yeah i've tried that with little success. So i thought i'd try this instead. |
| jogan11-30-05, 04:01 PM | hey man, no this is of no consequence, but its nice to hear that there are some other english folk on here. i've never met anybody that has said, "hey, i know dnd" outside my groups of friends. sadly for you (and us?) we're based in york. was beginning to think we were the only english dnd players! good luck with finding some guys; is there a local comic book shop near you? they usually do rpg stuff - ask around whilst your perusing the dnd books. heck, in my local "travelling man" i'm sure they even put up adds. peace out. jogan |
| Gallameed11-30-05, 08:49 PM | I find you can steal people from Gamesworkshop games sometimes... Put an add in the local rag for D&D roleplayers or try looking for players by stalking the people who check out the Forgotten Realms novels at your library! :D |
| Fazzeren12-01-05, 05:13 AM | Well, theres me and a bunch of guys in SOUTHhampton, lol, stupid wrong bit of the compass. Hello fellow Brits :D |
| Santherus12-01-05, 07:42 AM | Pop down to phoenix comics on the Wellie Road - they've a notice board with 'players wanted'; should help you out. |
| Jenny With The Lantern12-01-05, 07:46 AM | Although this doesn't always work, see if there's a LARP (Live Action RolePlaying) group anywhere in the region. They, like most DnD fans, are usually little known groups of people that enjoy fantasy and roleplaying (only they do it IRL instead of at a table :P). If there is, you could ask around if anybody is interested. |

(unless they spray you with mace) Funny, this happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I was checking out "Races of the Wild" at the local smelly game/comic shop and some guy with 80's-style "Axl Rose hair" tried to aproach me, only I had my headphones on and there was this weird "moment" where he gave me this "Hey, you play D&D?!" type-look, then he went all embarassed and walked away because I failed to acknowledge him properly. I snickered to myself and left the shop... Kicking myself later because I'm evil and I really do need more players... So, Axl Rose hair guy, if you happen to read this and you need a group, erm, um... meet you in Gamesworkshop 1.00pm this saturday and stuff. :D |
| Dylan0212-06-05, 01:35 PM | There must be more gamers in Northampton! Show yourselves. |
| Novacat12-06-05, 09:49 PM | (Me) <----- Not British However, I just wanted to point out that while it may be true that D&D is more popular here than in Europe, it is in no way popular in its own right. D&D, like many of my hobbies, is part of the geek culture, right up there with Star Trek and anime. Anyways, best of luck to ya in finding players. |
| Leap_UK12-07-05, 05:55 AM | Well, theres me and a bunch of guys in SOUTHhampton, lol, stupid wrong bit of the compass. Hello fellow Brits :D S*ddit! I just moved from Hants to Lincs and NOW I see this! Gah! |
| babysamurai12-07-05, 07:03 AM | Well, I moved to london from L.A. five years ago, and up until recently...nothing. Now, I'm about to start a Planescape campaign (me DMing) with four super-cool South African dudes. It does sometimes take time to find players, or more importantly - decent people that you would want to game with. Just hang in there and good things will happen. ...and maybe you will get a life-long friend out of it. |
| Telinar Beln12-07-05, 10:08 AM | I live in Scotland and started this recently. While I roped a couple of my friends into it, there wasn't much interest. However, I am currently at university and there is a society dedicated to DnD and other such games. It's not impossible to find players, just really hard. Good luck in your search. |
