I've heard people say it stacks, others say it doesn't. Could someone pretty please enlighten me? :) Certain classes specifically state whether or not the evasion would stack. Monk and Rogue do not and thus you cannot attain improved evasion at 4th level. It's really a DM's call on whether or not this works they way you want it to. A_D |
| mkill12-20-06, 09:32 AM | It's really a DM's call on whether or not this works they way you want it to. No need for a DM's call. Unless it makes you feel better if the DM reads aloud the book to you. Very simple, it does not stack unless it is explicitely stated. So, if you find a class that says "You get Improved Evasion here instead of Evasion if you already have it" then it stacks. I think there are a few PrCs with that passage. But, it doesn't say so in either Rogue or Monk class, so no stacking there. |
| StevenO12-20-06, 07:31 PM | I believe the official RAW is they do NOT stack unless stated otherwise. As as DM I would allow Evasion from any PrC to stack and grant improved evasion. Most of the more recent PrC already have the "if the character has evasion gain improved evasion instead" text so I would carry that over for ALL PrCs. Besides, if a character has that many classes granting evasion they should already have a very good Reflex save and as a DM I'd like that consitancy with expecting them to survive a reflex save. I would however avoid allowing evasion from base classes to stack. That should keep improved evasion away from lower level characters and help prevent dips to gain a potent ability for a low reflex save character. |

| draco111912-21-06, 12:57 PM | I'll have to go with everyone else, with one small change: I have found that if it doesn't stack, it tells you it doesn't stack (Aura of Evasion from Spell Compendium), and if it does, it tells you it does (Shadow Dancer). |
