Evil acts upon my DM [Archive] - Wizards Community

I need ideas. My DM is...relatively inexperienced. Anything we want, we can't have...I had to convince him to let me have some dull ion stones with continual flame cast on them *rolls eyes* And yet I randomly get a ring that lets me cast Iron Body three times per day (I'm a level 2 flying leeezard).

As far as the letting me have things is, he's told me, "No, you can't have that, because you know how to twist things for your advantage!" *sighs* Isn't that a good thing? Tossing a Qual's feather of the tree growing thing right under a hydra in a small dungeon hallway seemed like a bright move.

But now...screw it...I want to be evil. After I get my leeezard to consume the brains of my party members (in all good roleplaying, I should have already) with that Iron Body to kill the DM's pet monk and dwarf with Thor's Hammer of total obliteration and incoherant destruction, He'll likely find some way of a divine being coming down and smiting me or something(whooo! good thing I have all the quest items!)...and he probably wouldn't let me have anything besides basic characters after that for a while...sooo...in my pre-emptive revenge...I need ideas.

Pyromaniac druid, burning the woods?(Woods naturally need to burn every now and then, so I wouldn't be hunted by other druids as long as I'm not crazy with it) Tricky winged gnome, playing tricks on the party? Sounds good...Paladin who sees the living as merely one stage of existance, so wishes to hurry everyone along to their next blissful stage? I can do that.

Come on now, help me be evil...

So basically you're frustrated with your DM and you've decided to ruin the game as a result?

Please don't, you said your DM was relatively new so give the guy a chance to learn. It also sounds like your planning on killing your fellow players' characters, so is the whole group fed up with this guy or is it just you? If it's all of you talk to the guy, be reasonable with him, explain (gently!) that you aren't enjoying the way he runs the game and make some suggestions on how to make it a little more fun. If it's just you then maybe the problem isn't with the DM.

EDIT: Grammer.

I wouldn't recommend your planned course of action unless you're certain you never want to game with any of the others in that group ever again.

And just what is a level 2 flying leezard? If he's a relatively new DM and you're throwing something like that into the character mix, to me that's intentionally making his job more difficult. Did you think that maybe he gave you that ring with Iron body 3x/day trying to help you out, and just overdid it? If the dull ioun stones you talked about weren't such a big deal, why are YOU so frustrated over it?

I'm hoping your first post was put on the boards in frustration, and you'll calm down and handle the matter in a mature fashion.

so let me get this straight, you conned your dm to let you play a munckin "leeezard" whatever the heck that is, then you try to con him into giving you ub3r l337 equipment or at least in his eyes 1337, and he says no and now b/c you feel all Dm's should bow to your whim and give you what you want and he refuses to so you want to torture him? I hope he kicks you out of the group ASAP.

as for your revenge of a pyro druid, if I was DM you would loes your druid abilities forever for that one. Druids should be practicing non-intervention of the natural flow. They don't help animals that get hurt naturally, they don't help stupid humans who get malled by bears they prevent those humans from coming into the woods to hunt said bear in revenge.

Actually, these boards are here to help people ENJOY the game, not ruin it for others. I would be very surprised if you get much in the way of suggestions, and am actually rather surprised that the WizOs didn't close this thread.

If you don't like a game, just leave. Don't be a jerk and ruin things, thats childish.

If it were my game, the second you tried to PK anyway, you'd be out. I don't take crap and neither should your DM.

Unless your a forsaker. Thats the druid PrC that gives you unlimited burning hands so you can torch the whole forest :D

Course, regular druids are not big fans of them at all.

i agree with baron and twisted puppy. your immaturity in trying to take advantage of a new dm and then trying to wreck his game, as well as the game for the other players, all because he finally starts to get smart to your munchkin tendencies shows you to be a petty person who only cares about yourself. thank the Powers That Be that none of my players are like you, or they'd be out my door before the shredded remains of their character sheets hit the floor.

To add something a little more constructive: The DM's job is to tell an interactive story featuring your characters. It is NOT his job to give your characters everything they want, that makes for a pretty boring story. About as fun as playing a video game with GOD mode on over and over and over again. He shouldn't deliberately screw with you ("Oh, you're all halflings and gnomes. I guess that +5 Greatsword of Uber-whacking is useless then, huh. Oh well, one of you's got a masterwork dagger, right?") but he shouldn't capitulate and give you items you want, just because you want them. You shouldn't have designed a character with a specific magical item in mind anyway, it's absolutely ridiculous to expect to be given certain things.

I've always found the most ridiculous thing to be magic shops, stocked with EVERYTHING you could want. Some lesser potions, sure. A few +1 weapons, perhaps a +2, rolled randomly for type. A very few lesser wondrous items. Anything better would probably already have been snatched up by other adventurers/nobility/etc anyway. Even getting a tailor-made item crafted for you is silly, a good DM simply doesn't give his players time within an adventure to take time out to craft a new Uber-sword. If he wants them to get an Ubersword, he'll stick it in a dungeon somewhere and let them know about it somehow. Between campaigns, obviously, there's some room for things like that, but even then it should practically be a mini-adventure for anything really good, just to figure out how to make it/get the items required. Besides, it's more fun that way.

*lol* You people are quite quick to judge, eh? I don't go back to the post for two days, and everyone's putting words into my mouth and crucifying me. Quite amusing.

As far as my flying lizards, it's basically a mindflayer mini dragon. It gets the ability to fly, yay. *rolls eyes* And the ring was given to me randomly. He thought it sounded cool, I guess. But come now, why give your players things if you don't know what they do?

My problem is, the game is basically run on his opinion, and anyone else's opinion, and even the game rules, don't really matter. I had ideas for a werewolf, but he just started playing some other werewolf game, and has decided he likes it too much to follow the rules of werewolfs, they now do what he thinks is right. There was no convincing otherwise. "No no, that just doesn't seem right."

There are re-occurring neigh-godly characters of his past and of his friend's past that are in every game, such as a vampire bladesinger, that be basically treats as a god. He was horrified when I described them more of a militant bard, he had never read the description.

You are right in one respect, I am frustraited, I have given up on trying to give advice. I'm now simply going to have fun, and make sure the other players do as well.

ps. And as far as the ion stones go, if I ask for anything, anything at all, even ask if there's a blacksmith in town that sells anything above normal arrows, in huge cities, I hear an immediate, "No!" Followed by me blinking and being very confused...Imagine my suprise when I couldn't get a teen-level wizard to cast continual flame on my ion stones for 5 plat, when the wizard was obviously open for business and selling alot.

Well, in my opinion, you're expecting too much of these forums to NOT expect people to put words in your mouth :)

Also in my opinion, if you are THAT absolutely frustrated, do what any of the friends I know do: stop playing under him. DM yourself or find another DM; despite appearances, they're quite plentiful. Heck, I live in Machias, Maine, with a population of 2,000 people or so, and I play often with two other DMs, and I know of at least three DMs that we don't play with because their playing style annoys us (or they do).

And that's in a town of 2,000! If you live in a more civilized town with more people, you should have no problem. Post notices in high schools and colleges, book stores, etc...

Hope your problem is resolved in a relatively peaceful way.

Yeas, I think I shall take advantage of that observations, I was thinking of it anyway, I just wished to have fun first. Can't tell me no one ever wanted to get in their wrecked car and run it into a tree...*looks around nervously* Actually, I guess you can tell me lots of things...and can tell me what I think! Hah! Have at thee!

In any case, I'll look to my own sleep-deprived state, since no one wishes to offer any fun ideas.

You are, of course, aware that the DM's say is final? If the DM says that warewolves are differnent to what they say in the books, then that's the way they are. Being a DM myself, I know all too well how intimidating it is to be a starting DM. However, it is good that you want to have fun, but remember that doing some of the things that you suggested would more than likely only make it fun for you! Remember that you aren't the only person sitting around the table, the DM must be having fun as well or what would be the point? The DM doesn't spend hours of his/her time preparing a campaign just to see it buggered by a single player who is only out to "have fun" at the expense of everybody else's fun.

My suggestion: Try being a DM, then see how completely insane your thoughts on "having fun" are.

As all ready stated, this is how Dm's work. The Dm is GOD. And what he says is law.

and anyone else's opinion,
Perhaps the rest of the players like your Dm's style more than you do. Therefore, their ideas are more appealing to him?

and even the game rules, don't really matter.
This happens to be the case for many gaming groups or groups who like to modify the rules to better suit their style. While other groups, stick closely to the core rules. That's just how the game is played. Neither style of game play is wrong - it appears to me (and I could be wrong here) that if you're not having as much fun as you would like under you new Dm, then perhaps finding another group who adopts a less relaxed approach to the game would be more beneficial for everyone involved. Or indeed, become a Dm yourself - as Eltheriond has already implied - it isn't always all it's cracked up to be....

And as far as the ion stones go

The DM, is not god. I have been a DM, and I consider myself in no way a god. I am a storyteller, weaving a story with what the characters want to do. They love it. How could one enjoy something where it's, "Do it this way, and if you fail, I have to start over" I do pleeeeenty of crazy stuff in my campaign, but the characters are completely free to ignore them if they're not in the mood. In any case, I'm not coming to this thread anymore, so feel free to comment.

ps. And I know I didn't spell it right...I didn't feel like using my brain *sniffs, tear falls down*
