| Mhutchins07-24-07, 11:52 PM | Last night, we were having our session, and I did something silly, playing a practical joke with my spellcaster, and the victim of the joke tried to petition the GM to get me an alignment shift towards evil. Does this warrant it? Basically I am the joker of the group, and like to play around. We had been hired to take out a marauding hellhound that had been terrorising villages in the area. We found it, and killed it, but the druid in the party too heavy heavy damage. We cut off it's head for proof of our deed. That night, I cast on the head, using mage hand to control and lift the head and open and close the head like a puppet. I also put ventrilloquism on it, to capture my voice. I woke up the druid with the disembodied head and had it apologising to him in a comical, long-winded voice, and saying that all he wanted was food, and that he wanted to say he was sorry and be friends. The PLAYER seemed furious, and saw nothing funny about it, but the rest of the players were laughing heavily at it all. My character is chaotic good, and this would seem like a chaotic action, not nessessarily evil. Any opinions? |

Lawl! Thats a good one, I see no problems. Hes just being a negative Nancy because hes the butt end of the joke and doesn't know how to laugh with everyone else. |
| pres_man07-25-07, 12:14 AM | Druids may like nature and sticks are part of it but that doesn't mean he shouldn't remove the one stuck up his ... |
| Tavatanuse07-25-07, 12:30 AM | Truly a case of Interior posterior foliage of linear shape. I didn't know you could conceal large weapons like that without some serious slight of hand...Cast Sheliga (pardon the misspell) on his pants; see if he starts mentioning the accumulated weight of each coin looted, where its stored, and demands you start running out of non priced spell components. |
| calronmoonflower07-25-07, 03:27 AM | It wasn't an evil act by a long shot. The druid's player is being a Steve because his character was the but of a joke. |
| Voran07-25-07, 03:50 AM | If I were your DM: 1) I wouldn't have used such behavior for an alignment shift. 2)I WOULD have used such behavior as a plot/story hook later involving vengeance. Like the demonlord or demon mommy who's hellhound/son you just killed. |
| Fuzzly07-25-07, 08:18 AM | It wasn't an evil act by a long shot. The druid's player is being a Steve because his character was the but of a joke. What's wrong with being a Steve? I like my name =( |
| CzarGarrett07-25-07, 08:31 AM | Agreed. Not evil in the slightest. |
| Witch07-25-07, 08:49 AM | It's not even necessarily chaotic. It's a joke. That's it. People who see alignment everywhere need to chill down. |

My character is chaotic good, and this would seem like a chaotic action, not nessessarily evil. Any opinions? CLASSIC! I'd have given you an XP bonus for an in-character joke good enough to make the entire table laugh. No, that was nowhere near an evil act. The druid's player needs to lighten up. As any kender will tell you, the best way to get folks to lighten up is to keep playing pranks on them! |
| zelf_gale07-25-07, 10:39 AM | Non-aligned action... and totally hilarious. |
| Prator_the_Legendary07-25-07, 11:05 AM | It's not evil. And your druid wouldn't be able to say otherwise unless he's extremely lawful nuetral. |
| Dunsel07-25-07, 12:04 PM | Not evil or chaotic. How can this act be associated with morals or ethics? It's not like you animated the head. It was like a magic trick but for adults. The druid is over reacting. |
| Callista07-25-07, 06:27 PM | I agree. Practical jokes are chaotic, and so is playing around with a dead guy's head; but evil? Nope! Unless you're playing in a really weird campaign world, your alignment should stay where it is. (Re. Chaotic acts: Practical jokes are essentially entertainment, and an undisciplined way to have fun. Using a body part for the purpose is going against some of the rules of society--also chaotic. But both are only slightly chaotic. Even a lawful character wouldn't have to worry, though it'd be weird for a lawful character to think up a scheme like that one.) By the way, very creative use of magic. Kudos. |
| Paladin_Hiroshi07-25-07, 06:33 PM | I lol'ed. This was a hilarious joke, and you should show your DM and the player this thread, to show them the error of their ways if they consider alignment shifts. :D |
| Elrond Hubbard07-25-07, 07:19 PM | If anything, your alignment should shift to Chaotic Hilarious. |
| Cariyaga07-25-07, 10:19 PM | Agreed. |
| Horseshoe_Hermit07-25-07, 10:27 PM | Not an indicator of alignment in the slightest. A joke worthy of a gnome! However, in character, it does make sense for a druid to be bothered by something like that. Well, some druids. So if he doesn't drop it, meh. :) |
| Torrential07-26-07, 12:24 AM | Looking at it realistically... The joke's in bad taste (it's a dead freakin' head after all)... But bad taste != Evil (Okay, I would've laughed, too...) |
| High Octane07-26-07, 12:38 AM | A bit sick, but not evil. |
| calronmoonflower07-26-07, 02:03 AM | What's wrong with being a Steve? I like my name =( It's board termanalogy for a problem player. It's listed here. It was first used here. |
| green_yawgmoth07-26-07, 02:34 PM | This wasn't even a practical joke. It was a joke. A practical joke would have involved you making the head bite him on the butt with mage hand, or something. This was just funny. The crybaby needs to go spend a session in the time-out corner, methinks. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |
| Bloodwyrvn07-26-07, 04:06 PM | You should cast polymorph object on the stick up his ass lol |
