I've never done an evil campaign. I was looking through the monster manuels and all sort of UD books and stuff, and I can't find any particularly vile playable races. Most demons arn't playable, and most devils arn't either. Alot of evil races have huge LA's like +6 and +7. I was looking for something with big horns and wings and sharp fangs, you know, like a gargoyle or something, but gargoyle is +5 Level Adjustment. Any suggestions on a big scary monster race that's not unreasonably level adjusted and fits well into an evil campaign?

Necropolitian from Libris Mortis is a +0 LA template that makes you undead. You lose 1 level plus 1,000 xp though, so make sure your at least level 3 before you get changed. :)

Dalkaer(sp?) Half-Blood are from Magic of Eberron, +0 LA, and make very creepy characters.

Hope that helps. :)

What about a Tiefling with some gruesome deformities? Tiefling is +1 i believe. The fun thing about tieflings is that you can design 'em anyway you want ... horns, wings, stench, ash-colored skin ... etc.

Have fun, and good luck

Who needs a vile monster race? The evilest characters come from the places you don't expect. I'd just make a neutral evil elvish mage, perhaps go a Mystic Theurge cleric/mage or even go just a straight caster and then take Ultimate Magus PrC. Nothing like an evil spellcaster who doesn't mind toying with grafts and deformation to make your day that little bit worse :P but i digress...

Personally, i don't think evil monsters are necassary, and with DnD, it wasn't really designed to work with evil players in mind. Not to say that it can't work, but there are only so many 'good' creatures you can fight

Who says Evil creatures have to fight good creatures? Evil creatures are evil, they're selffish, they'll kill anything or do anything to get what they want. They don't care. And my concept of horns and things is this:

I'm the stuff those old legends of the jersey devil are made of, etc.. I have huge fangs and claws, and pretty much ambush people and rip into them with a vicious bite attack and rend them with claws, then swoop away screeching in the night while the person dies to death. Or I might swoop back to finish them off. My other party members are: Necromancer, Assasin, and Fighter. I can't remember what races they are. But I'm supposed to be the shock trooper guy, that's what they said they needed my role to be. I think we have an evil cleric too. See? I might just create my own monster to take care of my needs. Has a fear ability when seen, vicious wounding bite attack, sharp claws, wings, horns, gore attack. Pretty stupid and unaware though. Mostly a predatory animal sort of character.

The Wendigo from the fiend folio sounds like it could be up your street. It has a vicous bite (threats 18-20 and does 3 points of damage a round on a successful crit until healed), can fly and turn gaseous plus some good psycological stuff to inflict on people and i think its only a +2LA and no racial HD.

oh excellent! And just add the winged template and it's exactly what I want! Thank you, I'll check into it!

Well you could be a human or Cleric and take a perstige. Take for instace a dragon disciple, which is a half dragon. It would work perfectly for you considering you can fly and you have big fangs. Look it up in the Dungeon Master Guide in Perstige Classes.

generally i don't take prestige classes, and usually i play barbarian characters, because they're the easiest. And I like Conan the Barbarian, he's my hero.

Really? Conan The Barbarian isn't also a good movie, but a good role model. Then maybe if you don't want to take a perstige class you can try to at least make your character look evil by adding spiked armor on his original armor(you can find spiked armor in your players handbook 3.5). Or you can do a self mad dungeon in which you can gain personal expereince and act more evil(or if you don't want to make a dungeon they have sample ones on wizards.com.

I was basically going to create my own creature, put it in the races forum, and let yabathewhat judge and balance it. It would most likely be based off a gargoyle or something, but hopefully have an LA of only 1 or 2.

Hmmm...... Wow such a creature isn't the easiest thing to come up with. Well you could do a minotaur, but once again the level adjustment would be all screwy, maybe you should create your own race and class, and see if your DM approves of it.

I posted it in the races forum. Go look and see if you like it.

Kobold, fast small roguish, can take all those fancy dragon feats and no LA.
