well in the game im in there is a war going on for starters and secondly i have been given a choice to join the bad side or stay where I am. now i originally thought that id stay with the good side but thinking about it there are a lot of oportunities and rewards with joining the evil side and my character would have a motive for joining them because he was verbally harrassed by the arrogant general leading the good army (he was also tortured because i was trying to get close to the bad general to gain information) but the bad side also brainwashed me into believing they were good. so im kinda confused what do you think i should do?

I wouldn't do anything that would bring my character directly into conflict with other members of the party. If you're doing a solo campaign, do what you think your character would do. But if you're playing with other people who are with the good army, stick with them because player vs player infighting is never a good thing, unless you and your fellow players have no attachment to your PCs.

the only one i might hurt out of the PC's is the mage who is a lackey pretty much to the paladin and the paladin of course but i always argue with him and i normally end up getting knocked out (he is stronger than me) so i wouldnt mind losing him he'll prob think im being a double agent but the rogue might join with me. but i'll probably get sacrificed to the evil dragon they're trying to ressurect so i should pro stay with the good side but from my characters perspective id prob go over to the evil side for the profit.

what is your alinement? if you are NN,CN,NE or CE double cross them all (with exeption to your freinds), and try to play it so your party (exept maybe the pally who will have problems with the plan, and might try to stop you) are the ones who gain in the end.

well im CN and im prob going to be a double agent to gather information besides i cant be allied with them they would kill me if they used a detect lies spell or something or i could doublecross everyone and rule them all (my character has a need for attention beacause of something in his childhood)

Sounds to me like you've already been in some inter-party fights. If your DM and players are cool with that, then go ahead and do it. When I DM, I don't allow my players to attack each other (it just creates too much of a headache) but if you've already taken that course you might as well play it to its end.

we dont exactly fight we just argue a lot beacause of the paladins code of honor (that and hes an egotistical jerk) but most of the time me and the rogue agree on stuff (shes true neutral) and the wizard is acting as a monitor so we dont fight so yeah i think i'll leave the party

The thing to bear in mind about the Evil side is that they are pretty much, well, evil. Who do you want on your side, the guy who will fight alongside you and asist you when needed, or the guy who will just as happily knife you in the back for your share of the loot. yes the rewards may be greater being evil in terms of gold and treasure, but you have to be alive to enjoy it and you have to stop your 'friends' on your own side taking it off you.

On the good side, what's yours is yours. This is often why neutral people lean toward the good guys: they may not be saints themselves, but who would you rather have living next door? A saint or a psychotic kleptomaniac? It's a no-brainer ...

To the OP, correct me if I am wrong on this interpretation of what you wrote, but you said expressly that the Evil side brainwashed you into believing they were good. Now it could be implied within said brainwashing, that you also now view the good side as "evil" since they are oppossed. But either way, your PC being brainwashed would lead me to believe you no longer have a choice, he's brainwashed. Am I incorrect, and if so please elaborate?

ok yeah im sorry i did not elaborate. i was brainwashed but the paladin killed the evil wizard guy doing it and now im not. now you're probably saying "why the heck would he join the evil side after that!!!" well i think now what im going to do is be a double agent for the good side partly because yeah they would kill me so much as look at me but one of my friends was also brainwashed but when we defeated one of the guys that was doing it she was still brainwashed so either 1. She was evil in the first place or 2. Somebody else did this to her. now because the NPC was my good friend/ love interest im either going in as a double agent to 1. convert her back to good or 2. kill the guy who did this to her so there is my elaboration sorry?
