| BloodDragon03-18-05, 10:49 AM | Hey there, new to the boards. I just wrote up a huge post explaining my situation but it didn't post correctly so I'm just going to get to the point There are only Three Spontanious Arcane spell casters that I know of: Sorcerer, Warmage, Bard. Bard does not learn spells fast enough and is more of a jack of trades the a caster. Warmage is to strickly focused on combat and if I wanted that I would have choosen fighter. So that leaves me with Sorceror and his limit spell knownledge, not that I mind but I'd rather have more spells to choose from. Is there anyway to increase my Sor's known spell list? Divine or Arcane doesn't matter, any extra spells. |
| DaveTheMagicWeasel03-18-05, 11:49 AM | Either the Extra Spell feat from Complete Arcane (although it isn't very good - one spell added and it must be of a lower level than the highest you can presently cast) or Arcane Disciple from Complete Divine (need Knowledge Religion and deity's alignment I think - you can add all the spells from one domain to your spells known list, although you then use Wis instead of Cha as a casting stat). |
| Yak of Darkness03-18-05, 12:05 PM | There is another way, but if you're in it entirely for the extra spells, you're going to be disappointed. The Draconic Legacy feat (Complete Arcane) adds three spells known to your list, the specific spells determined by whatever dragon type you chose for your hertitage. Only problem is that is has the prerequisite of four other draconic feats, making it a hell of an investment compared to the spells you get, unless you were already wanting the other draconic feat goodies. Draconic breath also effectively gives you an attack spell (sacrifice spell slots for the use of a breath weapon) at every spell level, so it goes a way to increasing your versatility as well. |
| BloodDragon03-18-05, 12:23 PM | Hmmn well Draconic feats would be great but I'm not sure how well that works in an Oriental Campaign. (Rattling Sorcerer) |
| Yak of Darkness03-18-05, 12:36 PM | Don't know anything about Oriental Adventures. That's a question you'll have to ask the DM. |
| Koga:The ninja trick03-18-05, 02:52 PM | Have you read Dr@gon? They give you "bloodline" feats that work kind of like domains exsept no special power granteed, just level 1-9 extra spells. Some bloodlines have a feat tree where you can add bonuses by investing in the bloodline then taking an extra feat for the bonus but it's ussualy not worth it, just take the bloodlines to learn some new spells. Though the spells arn't exactly gamebreaking in nature. We're not talking fireball and lightning bolt for your bloodline, more like speak with plants and Tasha's hideous laughter.. |
| Golem197203-18-05, 04:40 PM | Usually, adding domains to a sorcerer just adds the domain spells to the sorcerer spell list. You then get to choose them as spells known just like the rest of the arcane spell list (in other words, domain spells don't add free spells known). If you'd like to go this route, I suggest you go with Warmage instead of sorcerer. Sure, you'll just be blasting the first few levels, but that seems to be what most people want the Sorcerer for anyways. The argument is that since it states that the Warmage has a spell list and a spell known list that covers their entire spell list, anything that adds to the spell list increases their spells known. You could try various methods of aquiring domains (feats like arcane disciple, PrCs like contemplative, etc.) or you could go with the current cheese and work your way into the Rainbow Servant PrC. It adds the entire cleric spell list to your current spell list, IIRC. This would give you most of the Arcane/Divine spell list as your spells known (all cleric spells + most of the blasting spells, your just missing the most of the utility spells). You could even combine the two routes and add a few domains (preferably those with more arcane than divine spells). This is better in Ebberon I think, because you'd have the ability to follow multiple gods. |
| TinManFan03-18-05, 08:23 PM | Want more spells? Here's an idea, play a wizard. There's a reason they get less spells known than a wizard. They have more Spells per day. |
| Owiercyn03-19-05, 07:23 AM | Try the Exalted Arcanist prestige class from BoED. After five levels in the class, you add 30 some sanctified spells to your spells known ! That might be a tad handy. |
