| Night_Knight12-05-05, 09:42 AM | Tell me if I have this right... The familiar's attack value is master's BAB + Familiar's Str or Dex bonus whichever is higher. So it is sort of like all familiars have weapon finesse, even if not listed in creature discription? They still get a bonus for being of small sizes. The bat and toad don't have an attack listed, but can they still deliver touch spells. So, a 3rd level wizard could have his bat familiar deliver a shocking grasp with +7 to hit touch AC? Uh, just re-read spell discription, +10(!) if the target is wearing a lot of metal? Thanks Not played a wizard very often and then long ago. |
| Rickiel12-05-05, 12:17 PM | Masters Base Attack plus familiar's dexterity mod (they usually have Weapon finesse-bite- or such) plus size modifier= attack. Yep, I think you got it down pat! Though personally, I like for my familiar's to aid my attacks or defense! This of course means for the familiar to be in the opponent's square but since the familiar has all of the master's skill ranks (not modifiers though or if a familiar has a better rank than the master) and since my favorite character is a rogue-mage, it's nice to see the ferret tumble and jump all over the target just before plunging a piece of metal through the throat!! ....ahem... |
| Tytalus12-05-05, 07:22 PM | Don't forget that some familiars (including some of the choices for Improved Familiars) are tiny and have melee reach 0, which means that they incur an AoO when they get close enough to an opponent for a melee attack. |
