I'm making a Fighter/Cleric that serves Destiny or the Fates by fighting to make sure everyone reaches their true destiny. I'm trying to figure out if there would be an appropiate weapon to symbolize his cause.

The first thing that pops in my mind is a scythe. Mostly because of its association with the Grim Reaper, and the inevitability of death. If your character is all about fate and destiny, it could be a good fit.

Just because I'm opposed to the idea of a cleric with a cause instead of a deity (makes no sense IMO) I will suggest deities that sort-of follow the cause of destiny, to help you get some ideas.

Istus (Complete Divine/Greyhawk), w/ a portfolio of destiny & the future, has a dagger as a favored weapon.
Cyndor (Complete Divine/Greyhawk), w/ a portfolio of time and infinity, has a sling as a favored weapon.
Chronepsis (Dragonomicon), w/ a portfolio of Fate, Death & Judgement, has a scythe as his manufactured favored weapon.

Why not look up the Spiritual Weapon spell and pick the weapon that matches your alignment for non-deity clerics casting it?

that's actually some killer insight, but I looked at the spell and it doesn't have a weapon for Neutral clerics. But excellent idea anyway shaggs

As given for the spell "Weapon of the Deity," (Complete Divine) the default weapons by alignment are;

good: warhamer
evil: light flail
neutral: heavy mace
law: longsword
chaos: battleaxe

good as guidelines at least =)
