List all your favorite characters, and why.

Mangle Manhide:

A ranger that hunts people in urban enviorments. He would catch them, skin them, and keep their skull in his house. I based him off how the predator worked, he was and still is awesome.

Karrn

Hobgoblin Ranger/Bloodhound I made as an NPC for a game. Lawful neutral, self-imposed exile from hobgoblin society as well as civilisation, incredibly good at stealth and taking out people in a non-lethal way (including use of a bolas for trip attacks). He mostly used his talents to take out rebellious orc leaders for the 'orc king' who ruled the continent. The main orc population knew him as 'the grey ghost' and thought he was some sort of demon or vengeance spirit.
He was hired to capture the solo PC, suceeded (at the same level as her, without railroading or cheating), handed her over to the bad guys, mfound out what they planned to do to her, rescued her and joined her side.
Karrn was always quiet. He hardly spoke, moved quietly, fought quietly and took injuries quietly. He was always happier around animals than people.

Ever since I NPC'd him I have wanted to play Karrn in a game as a PC, but it would probably have to be a solo campaign because of how lone wolf he is.

Well... I tend to love all characters I make, so I'll just present current one.

That is a human warblade, who was raised by goblins and thus he is sure he is a goblin too. He behaves... horrilbly. That is, for humans horribly. For goblins, that's just OK. His name is Gnawy - and that word means clusmy in short dictionary of piging goblin that I am tracking. He is agile for a human, though. Uses improvised weapons mostly - DM allowed to spend a feat for exotic weapons proficiency (improvised weapons). Almost as Thog - smashes things with a door. But he uses maneuvers with it! He is spending feats for pbtaining stances and maneuvers from Shadow Hand discipline - the best one for a goblin, I believe.

I'm not sure about party's opinion on him. Do they love him or hate him? No matter. He do not know such matters...

Damn my English!! I can't express what I feel in it! Enough for casual discussion, but not for something that can inspire folks...

T'lzscha S'ncroft

She was a Stranger (homebrew race) Wizard who stumbled upon the research of her supposedly excecuted grandmother, who had been experimenting with inter-planar boundry covalency. However, discovering that her grandmother was actually still alive, she decided to use the research against her, thus becoming an Alienist (PrC in Complete Arcane).

After finally defeating her grandmother with the rest of the party, T'lzscha reached her last level of Alienist and mutated. However, she here had an epiphony, realizing what she had become in her once benevolent but now power-hungry urge to kill her grandmother. She teleported back home and visited a powerful psion that she knew. This psion gave her a psychic reformation, and after a month, T'lzscha was reborn as a Druid / Abolisher (PrC in Lords of Madness re-tooled to work against evil outsiders instead of aberrations), intent on protecting the world from the otherworldly being she once brought into the world herself.

During her crusades against the devils planning to invade her home world, she fell at the hands of a devil spy. However, she was not done for. The gods of good and rightousness resurrected her and made her a divine crusader of light and justice. She is currently a Cleric / Crusader / Ruby Knight Vindicator (though she does not worship any god in particular).

Kieran Balmung (Monk/Psionic Fist/Tatooed Monk)
Wandering son of a noble family, he is the last survivor of his family after a plague ravaged the country. He was sent away to a school before the plague and his family refused to allow him to return until the plague ended.

The rest of the party thought he was a bard for the longest time because he kept on using music to earn money and do other things. I played him as sort of the wandering poet. He preferred to avoid combat and talk his way out of things and had a seemingly neverending stream of contacts. I think it was after about eight or nine months before he actually got in a fight, and that was more because of a tournament than an actual normal fight.

He eventually developed pseudo mystic powers (psionics) and gained a few other things. The rest of his family died during the campaign when someone was attempting to become a diety attacked the plague ravaged kingdom and my character went into combat juggernaut mode and basically dropped most of his calm and easygoing personality in a way that freaked out the rest of the party.

He gained an ability to float and later fly during that arc of the game while we reached epic levels

Sakaryoth/Steve: Sakaryoth was a sorcerer who, due to a horribly low wisdom score, got hit by a bizarre bluff convincing him that he was the familiar and his familiar, a toad named Steve, was the mage. He would only cast spells with the toad on his shoulder, as he believed the toad was casting them and he was just relaying them through whichever feat lets one do that (familiar spell, I think). He also would only make major decisions after consulting Steve, which was very odd in political negotiations. The best part was that due to his high charisma, he managed to convince hundreds of people that the above was true and that he was actually just a normal guy. It was a fricking weird campaign, but it was damn fun, too.

Sir Tarn Dolstone the Pious, Reverend Son of Kijo the Blade, Defender of the Throne, Hero of Prophecy, Slayer of Demons.

LN Dwarven Cleric of a LG War Deity.

He didn't start out that mouthful, no when Tarn was introduced... after the untimely death of my 3rd level druid, he was just a traveling priest who called himself Reverend Dolstone. Things had a tendancy to build after that.

Tarn was fun because he wasn't hero material... but he always ended up in the hero role.... holding the line, making the rousing speech, leading the charge... never because he wanted to, but because one way or the other it always became his responsibility, his duty. The rest of the party was good aligned and always volunteering for one thing or another and he always felt obligated to stay with them and keep them alive. (Visions from your god of firey death should they die will do that).

Thrust into a civil war he made it his business to see the rightful heir to the throne... though in the end he was surprised by who WAS the rightful heir (unlike most DM twists this was a good thing). Knighted, given the title of 'The Pious', that's when Tarn started introducing himself as Sir Tarn Dolstone the Pious, Reverend Son of Kijo the Blade... everytime his name was asked... of course the joke build from there as I kept collecting titles as the campaign went on.

We saved the kingdom and put an end to a civil war... marked by an old prophecy we went off on a quest... WEEE. Things went crazy from there planehopping, elastic time, falling into the Blood War... one of my favorite moments (and there were a lot)

We were in the Abyss had jsut fought along the edge of the blood war to retrieve a forgotten artifact. We find the place where its hidden but got cornered. Our Bard just got thrashed, but was stable, the rogue was hurting, it was down to Roland our human fighter who was only 18 years old IC and always felt like he was in over his head... ("adventuring seemed like such a good idea at the time"), our copper Dragon Shamen, and I being the only ones fighting fit.

Flipping through the PHB I had a plan.

Tarn "I have a plan but I need you to buy me 12 seconds."
Roland "In 12 seconds we'll all be dead!"
Tarn "In 12 seconds I'll be 9 feet tall and stonger than a giant!" Divine Power and (unerrata'd) Righteous Might)
Roland "... That's a good plan."

Ah plane hopping made us the victims of elastic time, we spent maybe 10 months plane hopping to us... 13 years had passed on the prime material. When we got home our country was embroiled in a bitter war and losing. We find our forces pushed back and on the brink... we don't take control but serve as a symbol of hope... you know having recovered stupidly powerful artifact. Start the high end Heroes of Battle campaign where we are commanders and have to make quite a few tactical choices... we eventually win the war... but Tarn falls in the last battle to retake the capital.

Fighting a long time recurring villian... the son of the false king who was one side of the original civil war arc. He was a powerful mage... never did figure out if he was a wizard or a sorc... he and I clashed on the walls of the capitol, the rest of the party having just jumped off to face the distraction. We clashed, unfortunatly I was low on spells, he wasn't. We fought and I thought I was having Tarn's dramatic moment of the campaign! Then I failed my save vs Soul Bind... then the mage summons a gate and tosses the soul stone somwhere into the planes and snaps the gate shut...

Roland (who has the distiction of being the only hero that survived all the way from the original level 1 team) and the rest of the crew finally brought down the mage, the other BBEG and save the day.

There were plans to continue the campaign (we were only 16th level at that point), including 'the search for Tarn'..... but we never got back to it after the close of that Arc.

My heroes never get to retire happily.

Slinky- Huge dire weasel. Very fun in camaigns, although sometimes a bit hyper. He actually deals very impressive amounts of damage... His Druid owner added a bunch of buffs to him and made them permanent. Natural fang, enlarge animal, and some others. He has an ac of about 30... DM ruled that you could make animal growth permanent... Freaking insane weasel...

Faust Darkleaf, and his brother, Aust.

My DM had just picked up the Draconomnicon and, of course, wanted to run a Dragocentric game (this guy loved, and still loves, the entire concept of Dragons). Looking through the book, the other two party members liked the ideas of Dracolytes and Dragonriders, so they aspired to be one. My friend and I, however, were much more into the whole anti-Dragon section, and decided to go for Dragonstalker. We were both Elf Rangers, he specializing in Archery, me in Two-weapon Fighting. We also off-the-cuff decided that because of their names, they would be germanic Elves, and whenever we spoke in our cheesy german accents, we were speaking in Elvish.

Well, Aust and Faust traveled with the other two party members for a while before splitting off, citing that they were "totally lame sissy girly pants" before running off to become, unintentionally on our parts, the focus of much hilarity. While the other two were off studying in a Dragon monastary to become a Dracolyte and Dragonrider, we invaded the lair of a Bronze Dragon, slew his guard through a blatant misinterpretation of Combat Reflexes (all your AoO's at once? Why not!), awakened the Terrasque through greed and survived through luck, single-handedly allowed Halflings to be exterminated from the hemisphere, and took a quick trip to the Underdark just for ha-ha's. The game eventually became known as the "Aust and Faust" campaign, and we usually had everyone in stitches from our antics.

Nowadays, we're playing another campaign set in the same world, where Aust and Faust are heroes from centuries past, and my character is his grandson. A much more subdued, dark grandson, but he's still a Darkleaf at heart, and never forgets his grandfather's hatred of all Dragonkind. It helps that his grandfather talks to him through his sword, also. Or at least that's what he says.

HORNK
"Why? Do you know another 'Hornk?'"

Like Honk with an "R."

Conjurer. Short, John Languanzamo type. He bills the troupe for spells he casts. He is the second half of a bard-performance duo, but he is a focused specialist/masterspecialist mage. After this last big battle he handed the palladin a menu for spells, and a legal waiver.

And by 10th level he will be casting spells at CL 16.

Jo pistachio.

Fast 2/ charming 2/tech mage 3.

Crafted himself a pair of hover boots by abusing item templates. Got killed by the same girl, 7 times, and never stayed down, destroyed 2 countries, and was party to the destruction of a third country, survived the end of the world, crafted the bomb that spawned my sig, had a mini-map implanted in his equipment, with little red dots. One of his best lines was "When the boulder clears the hall, another one is placed in the trap. Therefore, the safest thing to do is to keep the pressure plate down until the rocks run out." He then flash sealed the pressure plate down, and half an hour later concluded that they were not running out. Oh, he also crit failed every single check whenever there were female characters around. DM reacted accordingly.

His best method of defense, bar shooting people was to light himself on fire near the enemy. He had fire immunity due to various things, which was good because direct sunlight also lit him on fire.

Rolled his age on a different chart after building the character. Got a 14 year old, and was too lazy to change that he was a safety in science and technology inspector for the Canadian government.

Favourite fantasy character is Lorne:

rogue 3, swashbuckler 3, merchant (campaign specific prestige class.) 5.

She's the party rogue, and actually has a very good disable device check, and a very good search check, and yet she has only managed to safely bypass 2 traps ever. Despite that, has survived the second longest in the party, and is still going strong. Highest stat, for various strange reasons is appearance. I figured considering the merchant line of work, why the hell not roll for that one too? Ended up with that as my high stat which does nothing.

More vain than my other characters combined. One of the BBEGs was wailing on us in a cinematic fight that we were supposed to lose in, when he puts away his sword and claims that "My foes have been vanquished." to which I reply "I'm not dead yet" and promptly got knifed. I could have escaped alive, but for my vanity. I also was in a room with a person that contracted life blindness, who ignored me for about 15 minutes before the necromancer (whom he could see.) managed to relate that there was a problem and they fixed it. It nearly drove my character to tears.

This is my only character that I pay attention to clothes to a degree for, since I meet with important businesses, I need to look sharp and serious. However, whenever I kill someone, I get sprayed by their arteries. My dry cleaning bill is starting to add up...

Karrade Vorshnir: Monk

At one point in his adventuring career Karrade(along with other members of the party) became magistrates of the area. While the others used this title to grant them access to areas of interest to them, Karrade used this to help free those in the more crime ridden areas of the city.

It wasn't hard to find evil men doing disreputable things.

He was also a loved animals and nature. He had a few pets that were in no way forced to be in his company, but an intelligent snake made for a great companion.

I have a few favorite characters.

Nixie Cloud-Human-StarWars
She was a scout that was in the right place in the right time when she met up with Techie and Pilot. Techie doesn't like 'owies'. Nixie impressed him by shooting a bolt out of his hand. He told her he had a transport job that he needed some help on. She agreed to help him out and got close to Techie, helping with repairs around the ship and talking to him. Techie mentioned that he wanted to start a fishery on board once he got a bigger ship. Now Nixie is studying aquaponics to bring more money to the ship.

Nims River-Kender-D&D
Nims was a fun character. The party was hired to sneak into a wharehouse and steal some weird magic item. Well Nims found a crate full of glass balls used for glass blowing. She had a feild day with those. Unforunatly, Nims was eaten by a sea cow on a voyage to the mainland. She tried to get her dagger and found a whisk. To which the DM said "what are you going to do make it a cake?!" "Of course." Nims yelled.

Dr. Kayty Soon-Human-D&D/D20 Future/StarWars Frankengame(oddly it works well)
Dr. Soon is my absolute fav. She can spit on you and you're healed. I just started playing her so I'm still getting her personality worked out. She is so good at her profession she was able to buy a ship and have it repaired in little over 1 1/2 months, with a little help from the rest of the party of course. She doesn't like fighting, but will defend herself when needed. She normally sits in the medbay with her Datapad correcting the on board med computer.

Most of my characters end up dead do to fumbles or stupidity of party members. Like the time we decided to go cave diving and drown or the time we ended up in the abandoned wizards tower and had to climb down to the rope. Ones and twos are very bad when climbing.

Perfald Gnome CN Rogue2/Illusionist2
A young and immature Gnome that found his way to the party before entering his enemies' hideout. The Spriggan Gnome lair. He traveled with them, constantly bickered, tricked, pulled pranks, exaggerated and annoyed the Druid. He loved animals, principally groundhogs, but he had his own type of fun with them, and I don't mean THAT type of fun. He threw them up in the air, and played roughly. The druid got so mad when Perfald threw the groundhogs to the air, they almost got in a fight. Perfald was also known by his tendency to get drunk, and tell the stories of his adventures with a "tiny" degree of exaggeration. *Yeah, like he could kill Dragons at that level* He subsequently got drunk and slept...*ALONE* 'till 2 PM.

When the party arrived at Highmoon, he was hired by the circus and he accepted! He was the best NPC I've ever runned.
