| PiedmonSama08-14-06, 06:37 PM | I'm posting this thread for a friend who doesn't often use the internet. He and I were talking a while ago about his character in the campaign in which I'm a player (Orc Wilder 1/Barbarian 1). He plays a Fighter from an exotic country loosely based on the Ottoman Empire, and his character's backstory is that this Fighter learned his his skills in a temple of Zuoken (the demigod from Expanded Psionics Handbook). The party is at level 2, and his current feats are Improved Unarmed Strike, Power Attack, Improved Grapple, and Weapon Focus: Poleaxe. Needless to say, his primary weapon is a poleaxe. We're coming up on 3rd level and my friend and I have been throwing around ideas as to what his feat progression should be. (He wants to stay pure fighter, just to be "old skool." The feel he's looking for is a fighter with a lot of unarmed prowess, despite his heavy armor. Feat/Progression suggestions would be much appreciated from my fellow posters. |

Even as a fighter, you'll want to take psionic feats, and go into War Mind or Fist of Zuoken. If you really want to stay true to your deity, you might want to take some monk levels or feats, especially Superior Unarmed Strike from Tome of Battle. |
| PiedmonSama08-14-06, 08:46 PM | That's what I told him. "Honestly, shouldn't you just play a monk instead?" For some reason he's dead set on pure fighter, but Zuoken appeals to him. Maybe it's just the name. The DM said it was fine, Zuoken can be a slightly more generic martial deity in our gameworld rather than exclusively worshipped by monks/psychic warriors. But thanks for the suggestions. Superior Unarmed Strike (now that I read it) looks perfect to me. I'll credit the messageboard when I suggest it. ;) |

| Bulletproof_Condom08-15-06, 05:49 AM | Uh... character rebuilding? Talk him into monk/psywar and send him on a remaking quest? Character rebuilding is described in PHB2. |
| babysamurai08-15-06, 06:01 AM | No one else has any advice? Feats: Stunning Fist Extra Stunning Rapid Stunning Ring the Golden Bell Fiery Fist Ki Blast Flying Kick Fists of Stone Earths Embrace Improved Natural Attack (unarmed strike) Wild Talent ...And kudos to your friend for having the balls to stick with Fighter only. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash08-15-06, 11:54 AM | Also, if he does decide to take up unarmed fighting, Snap Kick (Tome of Battle again) and Stunning Fist make a great feat combo. It adds an unarmed attack to a full attack routine, and Stunning Fist makes it even better. |
| Climhazzard08-15-06, 05:49 PM | If your Wisdom is high enough (+13), you should consider the Combat Form feats from PHBII. The Combat forms are pretty nice, because they give you fast healing, AC, and other goodies. Don't have PHBII you say? Never fear, links are here! (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/datafind/feats.shtml) Maybe Wild Talent would also be great for your friend. (In the Expanded Psionics Handbook) |
| PhaedrusXY08-15-06, 07:22 PM | Karmic Strike + Freezing the Lifeblood = Coup De Grace machine. Get the weapon enhancement that lets you use your stunning abilities through it. |
| babysamurai08-16-06, 05:05 AM | Karmic Strike + Freezing the Lifeblood = Coup De Grace machine. Get the weapon enhancement that lets you use your stunning abilities through it. The only problem is that Freezing the Lifeblood only works against Humanoids. |
