fighter PrC's [Archive] - Wizards Community

im playing 3.5 and dont like any of the ones in sword and fist really for my concept. apart from that there is divine champion in FRCS, but again i dont like it for my concept.

i have currently taken the lightly-armoured fighter with the whirlwind attack feat chain and weapon focus and greater weapon focus, weapon specialisation, improved critical bastard sword. 2 feats to choose still.......and i need a PrC, i dont see him multi-classing and i dont want to go 20th fighter.

any help??

Why not? Fighter and Rogue are the two core classes with the greatest amount of versitility. (Wizard comes a close third.) With just core feats you can build just about any pure fighting paradigm you want, and have feats left over for breakfast. Most of the fighter-based prestige classes are focused very narrowly, and trade off half your feats for class powers that amplify (slightly) your other feats. Personally, if I want to build a mounted knight sort of character, I'll buy all the mounted combat feats, plus a few good sword-based feats, leadership, and landlord. I won't go for "cavalier" or whatever.

04-07-04, 02:11 PM Sword & Fist was for 3.0 ... The Complete Warrior is out for 3.5, and has even more PrCs.

The Aardvark is right, though, you can do quite a bit of customization with just fighter levels - as long as your concept doesn't call for too many of the wrong skills, or any magical abilities.

04-07-04, 11:23 PM Weapon Master is great PrC for a fighter. If you focus on a particular weapon you gain special powers with it. Including lowering your Crit. Range with that weapon as well as Increasing the crit. multiplier by 1 several times on a critical hit.

Alternately, you could take levels of Barbarian or Swashbuckler or Paladin (they don't have to wear full plate). Having two classes as a human really isn't any different from using a Prestige Class, it's just easier to do.

Beyond that, choosing a PrC for your fighter would depend on what it is you now want your fighter to be able to do. What is it you want to do with the fighter now?
