| JasonC77907-26-07, 10:51 PM | Ok I have a level 17 wizard (actually a wiz/beguiler/ultimate magus/incantatrix) and we are playing an adventure in which we will be fighting many undead, then a very powerful dracolich. I am looking for some input on the best spells to use against undead. Illusion is my prohibited school, and I have access to 8th level spells. I have PHB, Complete Arcane, Magic of Faerun, Spell Compendium, Complete Mage, and Libris Mortis. Thanks! |

| Terraneaux07-27-07, 12:19 AM | Disintegrate has the nickname of "superior disrupt undead" around my gaming group due to its efficacy at killing them. Unlike most fort save effects, it actually affects undead, which have a hard time passing the save due to their poor fort save and lack of a constitution bonus. You aren't playing "Into the Wyrmcrawl Fissure" by any chance? Also check out "Black Blade of Disaster" and "Sphere of Ultimate Destruction" out of the Spell Compendium. |

| elporko07-29-07, 03:22 PM | Resonating bolt is a great low level spell for messing up undead- as it is a fort save that effects objects. Undeath to Death is okay for dealing with lower powered minions who rely on swarm tactics And yes, all of the disintegrate type spells are very nice. |
| RobTzu07-29-07, 03:51 PM | Wall of fire works well. It is a good bit of crowd control that does double damage vs undead. Perfect for mindless critters. And only a level 4, so you can save higher spots for some real good hitters. |
| Talisman07-30-07, 12:27 AM | Orb of force (Complete Arcane) is good for those nasty incorporeals. Wall of fire, disintegrate, fireball and magic missile are all must-haves. Especially disintegrate. Lovely, lovely disintegrate... If you can get your paws on a copy of the Book of Exalted Deeds, you might consider taking the Purify Spell feat at 18th level (assuming you have a mostly-good party). It bumps it by +1 level, but purified spells do not harm good creatures...awesome for when the melee masters are tying down the boss monsters. |
| kelvinaw27307-30-07, 12:19 PM | Basically, pour on the raw destruction spells. Check what kind of dracolich though, as a dracolich of a red dragon will laugh at fire. A few protective spells wouldn't hurt to keep things at bay as well ... |
