We start out on a ship, although there wasn't a good reason for us to be there, oh well. Sailing along we run into what turns out to be 35 Gith Pirates! We were first level with 10 NPC guards. Anyway, the pirates start coming aboard, our scout missed a spot check to spot the ship so we were caught off guard, un armored. Make my first attack, ranged longbow, crit, confirmed, max damage for 27 points. The pirate stumbles, but doesn't go down. So I am thinking OH CRAP, there are 35 more of these things, we are first level and have no armor on. They had two wizards in the back on their boat, before we saw them they sent over a fireball. Me, with 10 HP luckily makes my reflex save for only 6 damage, otherwise, I would have made it one round before being knocked out. Our NPC guards managed to hold a line and keep them off the boat, we focused our attack on two wizards on the other ship, I eventually took them both out for my first two kills. Suddenly, after about 8 rounds, the ocean starts to bubble, there is a bang, we all wake up on another plane, the ship teetering over a gaping hole, all of the pirates gone, only us and 5 NPC's left. DM figures out XP, 2267 each! Holy cow I think, I take the level up, but feel it was way too easy. Anyway, this whole battle took us about three hours, most of the party was way off task, just moved sooooo slow. We have a couple of more small encounters and finally get into a town where things start to get interesting. We find a powerful mage who could tell us how to get off this plane, in return, he wants up to kill the town lector who rules with an iron fist. We take the job, and then...I have to leave, CRAP! So all in all, it was fun, we didn't do much actual roleplaying early, but the town, take the job, talk to people was great, we really took on our roles. So, it was a good time overall, I just expected more. Talking to my bro who played with us, he said the it is usually better, evidently the DM had a family emergency the day before and didn't get to prepared. I understand that and look forward to the next time we play. One question, we ended the day with almost 3,000 XP. That seems like a lot to me, we did play for almost 8 hours (although actual play time was much less), but still, that seems like a lot right? I just want to be prepared in I play with another group. |

That is a lot of exp for one session, even one as long as yours, although since, from the sound of it, your session was almost all combat, it might be appropriate. Just keep in mind that you cannot level up twice at once. |
