| Talinna06-26-05, 01:28 PM | We finally talked somebody into starting an epic lvl campagin in our group. Anyhow in the campagin we have to write a background as to why we would want the deamon lord of the undead (can't remember his name at the moment) unseated from power/destroyed. We've been told there will also be a lot of planner travel. Anyhow I've been thinking about two builds, one I've got layed out mostly it would be taking my now lvl3 half-brass dragon cleric and turning it into a cleric 10/ fighter 10/(undecided) 1 (campagin starts at lvl 25). The cleric is CN and in three lvls of play has been drafted by deities other than his own to take out Zargon, who works for Loth.. anyhow he has already delt with more than his fill of undead in this underground tomb he is currently in, so the background will come easily. I plan on having him progress into a leader and becoming a warrior for Astranian. With leadership and dragon cohert feats he should prove useful in battle. This is what I have so far and I was wondering if this character would be effective at all in an epic campagin. (Before buying equipment) STR 22 (+2 from a deity encounter) DEX 18 (+2 from attribute points) CON 18 (+1 from attribute point) INT 18 (+1 from attribute point) WIS 18 CHA 18 Feats Multiattack (starting feat) Street Smart (regional feat) Toughness Dragonfriend Leadership Dragon Cohert Skill Focus (ride) Run Epic Fighter Feats Improved Initiative Combat Reflexes Power Attack Improved Overrun Mounted Combat Trample The character has also found a large Scimitar that has an ego and is vorpal with cutting. I highly doubt he will let me carry this over with out making me pay the gold for it, but I can hope :schemes: My other choice that I am considering is playing a lycanthrop (warewolf or waretiger) Druid, I know the templets say that warewolves are always CE but the from what I've seen the DM believes in free will and the character will be a natural not inflected so it may work. With this though I was wondering, I've heard of Catfolk, is there such thing as Caninefolk? (or something of the sort). If so could somebody please refer me as to what book it can be found in? I really would like to play a character of this sort but I hate asking the dm to make all sorts of exceptions and to try and map out complex templets. |

If I remember correctly, they are some of the original races to come to Toril. Since you are going epic, don't forget about epic spellcasting. You can come up with some pretty useful spells. Your example character cannot cast 9th level spells with the current Wis he has. See if your DM will allow you to use the UA LA buyoff system. You can, by level 21, remove most of your LA from the half dragon(9+6+3=18), or werewolf(12+9+6+3=30). Your caster level will improve. You could also look at the arcane hierophant from Races of the Wild. Going epic will finally let you get 9th level spells in both classes, plus you'll have a nice companion. If you stick with the half dragon cleric, go cleric and one of the PrC's in the draconomican. Go on an epic adventure to reclaim your races's Dragon Orb, and release the ancient dragon within(epic spell)..and see about becoming a full dragon. I'm sure your god would be most happy with you for that. I've always wanted to do it. |

As for the suggested changes to the halfdragon, like I said I'd be importing that character (just with a few added levels) so I don't want to tweek to much and I've found that I don't play that great of a cleric but I do like the character so I really want to take the fighter class or something else after awhile. As for PrC I've considered Dragonrider and Platinum Knight (lacking the good alignment though). |
