| Teh_Darkness04-17-07, 01:46 PM | I recently started playing in a new evil campaign where the DM decided to be fairly leniant on character choices. I had been reading a lot of books over the last couple breaks and I decided that this would be a great opportunity to create a character inspired by the main character of the Farseer Trilogy Fitzchivalry only neutral evil rather than chaotic neutral. I created a human rogue whos stats are as such Str 11 Int 17 Dex 14 Wis 13 Con 13 Cha 17 He specializes in being more about disguises, forgery, and deception to gain access to high status events and kills people with clever uses of ingested or contact poison. Now I thought this was a rather balanced creation seeing as how one player is a red half dragon Dragon Shaman one a Minotaur Barbarian (and by the way would a minotaur barbarian PC have almost 100 HP I'm not sure if the DM did this right?) and one a Vashyryn *spelling* Warmage from the the Book of Vile Darkness. This is ll fine because my character isnt indifferent about other people having more then power then him because he can use that to his advantage, and I'm a big believer in its not how strong you are but how well you use your strengths. Now I didnt think this would be an issue. I'm specialized in poison after all and that gives me some significant advantages in itself right? Wrong actually because its near impossible to find materials for the most common of poison. And the only ingrediants for poisons that are available are the ones for over 900 gp. I know there poisons you can buy already made, no poisoncraft check required for only 300 gold if you make the poison that cost goes down. I wonder do you board members think this to be a raw deal. I mean I'm actually playing a reasonable character trying to find reasonable things on black market which my character knows how to use. I dont care about the other characters benefits thats fine more power to them. But I at least want to find the key components that make my character unique. Is this to much to ask. Just in case anyones interested. Info about the Farseer Trilogy http://www.hearwritenow.com/reviews/fantasy/farseer.htm |

| Teh_Darkness04-17-07, 01:56 PM | I understand that poisons are expensive and I'm perfectly fine with buyin the raw resources to craft them myself. The thing is that every time I search for the materials that are within my price range they are strangely unavailable. but the rare incredibly expensive stuff... Thats everywhere... It seems like the DM is denying me the opportunity to even purchase the poison by making it non existant. I mean working with demons for crying out load. You would think they would have some 300 gp poison lying around |
| daggeroflath04-17-07, 01:58 PM | Are you planning on giving him any druid or psion levels as well to represent the wit and the skill? |
| Teh_Darkness04-17-07, 02:01 PM | You know I could actually pick up Druid I didnt even realize it at first. Neutral Evil is still Neutral after all. That would actually resolve some of my issues..I would have knowledge nature to help harvest my own deadly herbs. And Hey theres the wolf to.. I prolly would go more druid then Psion the Wit always felt like druid magic to me and Fitz seemed to prefer the Wit in the long run... Though it would be fun having something like the Skill and Psionics would fit quite nicely.. Fitz had a bit of Barbarian in him too I believe...While this stuff will be great for the character I still think I should have the opportunity to at least purchase the components I need for the lower end poisons |
