Dragen White 09-26-05, 03:38 PM	My dm argues that if multiple charicters flank then each character flanking increases their attack +2, i can understand what he is sayin, but the rules clearly state that no matter how manny freinds you got flanking your only flanking towards a guy on the other side of your enemie, so a +2, but he cant stop arguing, that fighting 2 people is easier than fighting 8 and you should suffer penalties or get more bonus's, i tried to show him aid another as another option but he seems pretty set on this rule. Luckly hes not running a game right now....he loves goblins....
TheErsatzFacsimileOfMe 09-26-05, 03:51 PM	You are correct that flanking only provides a +2 bonus to attack rolls which does not stack no matter then number of creatures involved. Otherwise, a swarm of gnats would be the deadliest things in the D&D world.
Despana 09-26-05, 03:51 PM	The highest bonus you can get from flanking is +2. So once you see that you are flanking with one other creature you can stop checking and get your bonus. In the case of 20 halflings surrounding a red great wyrm for example, they each get a +2 bonus even tho there are 5 others on the other side of said dragon.
Murrdox 09-26-05, 04:00 PM	That rule would be AWESOME! Then I could use Summon Monster III to summon a possible 5 dire rats around an opponent. If I had a fighter ally next to the enemy... then that would be... RR REF RR So that's a total of 3 pairs of flanking creatures... which gives my fighter ally a total of +6 to hit while the rats are there? Whoot! Unfortunately the swarm of gnats wouldn't work, since tiny creatures cannot flank. :( If you can't tell, this post is sarcastic, and these flanking rules would be completely broken :)
