| Axiomatic_vampire11-01-07, 07:34 AM | Flaws. Bleh. Never liked them. You can always take a flaw that doesn't matter, and get a free feat that will matter very much indeed. It's got to be the most consistently unbalanced trade-off out there, except for all the other ones. |

As a DM, you have to be very careful when allowing homemade flaws into the game. Read the section on flaws at the top of the SRD that glosses over this. A flaw needs to have a mechanical impact on the character (as opposed to a purely role-playing one) that will matter. One example mentioned is creating a flaw that gives a penalty to various social skills. The fighter or barbarian who isn't the party's face won't feel any impact from this flaw. Of course, as a player, homemade flaws are made of pure win, as they are abusable as hell! :P |
