I just started to play in a new game run by a friend of a friend. I was told that he was a very experienced DM, but from the little I've seen and heard from him in person makes me beleave otherwise. He has some odd house rules that are just cruing out to me to abuse them as much as humanly possible. Things like bonuses of the same type stacking as long as they come from a different source. I showed him where it says they can't stack I explained how over powering it would be to allow that but he still says they stack. He allows haste to give spellcasters two spells in one round. Again I explained why it would be unbalancing but he said that he doesn't see why it would be overpowering when he told me that I almost craped my pants I was so suprised.
And character creation was fun only allowed to use 4d6 but we had to re-roll all ones and then the lowest of the 4 once and keep the highest three. Only PH classes and races no PrCs for PCs but they are allowed for NPCs I don't see how that makes sense but what ever.
The list goes on things like multiple castings of enlarge stack along with most other buffs. The thing is how his rulings are it's hard not to make an uber character our only restriction is we start at 6th lvl with only 10k to spend and no more then 10% can be spent on one item. I guess I should get to the question should I take advantage of the rules and show the DM in game just how broken they are or should I just ignore the unbalanced aspects of the game and just play?

Is he claiming these are the core rules, or his own house rules? If the former, his DMing ability is subject to question. If the latter, well, as DM he has that option...

If it detracts from your enjoyment of the game, then don't play. It's as simple as that.

I say give it a shot and see how it goes. There's nothing saying that you have to keep playing in his game once you start. If you find that you don't like it, just leave the game.

If you do decide to leave, you might show him once before you leave, just how nasty your PCs can be with the rules he's using.

If you do like it, or it's not really all that bad, then just go ahead and play along, trying to not abuse things too much, and rather just having fun.

It sounds way to easy to unbalance that. If Enlarge stacks with itself, given few rounds you can be collosal and simply grapple, trip, and disarm your tiny enemies into oblivion.

If you can't decide, then do both! Make a cohort that constantly abuses these rules. This way if the DM comes to his senses, he just has to kill off the cohort and your character gets to stay.

Well I made a wizard since he changed their HD to 1d4+1 and said we're using 3.0 familars. Most of his rulings are house rules made by him. Which is funny since he said he doesn't like to rule against the books. So my dwarf wizard can have 22con to start the game with if I really wanted it to. I do have the leadership feat and my spiked chain fighter is going to kick some ass. I guess I'll hold of the on lessons in pain for a bit and see what the other players are like. If the game is fun the I might not have to give any lessons at all. Oh well I'll just hope for the best.
