| ZypherX02-13-07, 06:15 PM | Last adventure, our party was resting in this dwarven bar when it was attacked by a cleric of Erythnul and her demon minions. Being the brave and noble heroes we are, we quickly move into the basement and stone shape the stairway closed, leaving the other patrons of the bar (mostly miners) to deal with the demons. A few summons, many rounds, and one demon horde later, all the patrons of the bar have been killed, as well as the cleric and her demon buddies, leaving us as the only survivors. Now, here's the question: should we try to clean up the place for use as a stronghold, or quietly go on our way? |
| sloth205202-13-07, 09:57 PM | LOL sounds like fun. Alright first of all do you need a stronghold? Second, will someone come looking for the owner of the bar? |
| Artector02-13-07, 10:01 PM | As much meta-gaming as it is, I say ask the DM. I'm going to assuming hiding was the only viable option too. Is the law gonna have any problems with it? |
| Drag0nUL02-14-07, 03:20 AM | If you really need a stronghold(your adventures are mostly in a relatively small area) you should go for it. Being 'the brave and noble heroes you are' I assume you have/can get hold of a rogue with decent forgery skills to make some papers proving you bought the inn form the previous owner. |
| Callista02-14-07, 03:48 AM | If I were the DM, I'd definitely have you encounter the restless spirits of the people you entombed. But then, I'm just an evil DM. |
| Yokomohoyo02-14-07, 04:19 AM | I would suggest to leave and come back after maybe a few days. Giving time for the local officials to see what happened and see if they leave the place abbandond... If they do well then claim the rights to the place. |
| CzarGarrett02-14-07, 08:36 AM | I think a counter-party made up of good-aligned angry family members is in order. |
| zzakk2to202-14-07, 04:43 PM | If you can stoneshape just slowly make your own fortress. even better hide and them buy the place level it and then stoneshape your own special home. |
| Raymond_Luxury_Yacht02-14-07, 11:28 PM | This is when the DM converts the Casurua. What alignment are you guys, anyways? If a bunch of pansy miners could kill all the enemies, you could have done so without all the dead civilians. |
| ZypherX02-15-07, 01:39 PM | Sorry, I noticed some things missing from my last post. First off, I may have given the wrong impression about the order of events. The demons attacked, then my party went into the cellar and sealed the door with stoneshape. The demons kill all but two of the miners. However, the fighter uses her earth elemental gem and I (Psion) use astral constructs to fight the demons upstairs from a distance while the Favored Soul grabs the other party member and dimension doors to outside the bar- where they find the cleric and two of her demon buddies quite surprised. The constructs and the demons beat on each other for a while, and I grab the fighter and dimension door to where the others were (I had known where they were going). The cleric creates a blade barrier around her, which I later use against her when she's Energy Push'ed through it (tee-hee) and the fight continues. We end up killing all the demons and the cleric, then I may or may not have told my constructs to finish off the dwarves :D. In the end, we decided to just leave the tavern as it is and bury the bodies outside. Perhaps with a note apologizing for the inconvienence. While it may have made a decent stronghold, the DM hinted that we'll have a chance at a more...mobile stronghold pretty soon. (I'm going into the Thrallherd PrC, and he made mention of a planar pirate ship...). BTW, the party was a LN Favored Soul of Falafelgarnnugen (the travel god), a LE Psion (me), a CN Tiefling Wizard, and a CG Frenzied Berserker. |
| Alcari Ambaron02-15-07, 03:56 PM | On purpose or not, your last reply had me falling from my chair laughing because of: While it may have made a decent stronghold It's a BAR! there's something wrong when: "Your idea of a night on the town and an impenetrable fortress are the same thing" (cookie for the first who names the source of that quote) bury the bodies outside. Perhaps with a note apologizing for the inconvienence. LN Favored Soul of Falafelgarnnugen (the travel god) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Also, a word of advice he made mention of a planar pirate ship. IT'S SPELLJAMMER! Run for your lives! |
| Airos02-22-07, 06:47 AM | It's a BAR! there's something wrong when: "Your idea of a night on the town and an impenetrable fortress are the same thing" (cookie for the first who names the source of that quote) That would be Shaun of the Dead. :D Best. Zombie. Movie. Ever. As for the OP, I would just leave given what information you've given. It was a bar in which most of the patrons were miners. That means that there is, logically, a mine near by. Were all of the miners at this bar? If not, then they'll be along soon enough. If they were, then what about their families? Was this bar near any sort of town, or was it just out in the middle of nowhere? Did other travelers stop there for food and rest? After all, you were there for whatever reason... It seems to me that there are, at some point or another, going to be people with an actual claim to this bar, they're going to be very unhappy to learn that everyone's dead and there's a good chance that the local authorities will become involved. If there's no authority in the area, then there's always bounty hunters... Just my lust for cookies thinly veiled as my :twocents: ;) |
| KurenaiYami02-22-07, 07:01 AM | Best. Zombie. Movie. Ever. Dude...they snuck past zombies...by pretending to be zombies... So...freaking...awesome... |
| lucifer77702-22-07, 07:38 AM | I just watched that movie Monday, and while I did like it, I wished they had toned down the foul language a bit, and it was more comedy based, instead of a "serious zombie movie with comedy thrown in". |
| Far_Traveler02-22-07, 08:27 AM | It's a BAR! there's something wrong when: "Your idea of a night on the town and an impenetrable fortress are the same thing" (cookie for the first who names the source of that quote) It's a DWARVEN Bar, it's probably made of stone. |
| goblin_pride02-25-07, 03:12 PM | It's a DWARVEN Bar, it's probably made of stone. With really low ceilings..... |
