Gestalt Psion/Wilder, and a bloodthirsty DM [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-17-05, 04:53 PM Ok, sorry if this is in the wrong board or something, but I am trying to create a Gestalt character who is an Elan. I am thinking of going Psion/Wilder so I can get a disgusting amount of Power Points to use for powers and the Elan's abilities, and when I can, make the Wilder into Uncarnate so I am next to impossible to damage in the end. What do you think, and does anyone know how I can make this character as disgustingly powerful or obscene as possible? I need this because my D&M is out to kill us. As in he is hoping for at LEAST 1 dead pc per session.

03-17-05, 06:07 PM Jeez, why does your DM want to kill you?! This isn't a contest between you and the DM, or at least it shouldn't be. What sort of a heroic fantasy story can you build if a character dies every other page?

Ah, well; I guess, in your case, you're playing D&D more like a war game than like an RPG, which is cool. Your DM might like playing D&D minis, actually--it emphasizes the strategy aspect of D&D.

Okay: As for the build, I suggest the Character Optimization board. They've helped me with a good number of my characters. Beware, the board runs fast... if your post goes off the first page without enough (or only one) replies, bump it once.

(Oh, yeah--if I were you, I'd be really sarcastic and RP the character as someone who keeps having premonitions of his own death. But that'd just be me.)

03-17-05, 06:19 PM My DM wants to kill us in this campaign because we are running 2 of them at once. One is a actual, serious roleplaying one, and the other, the one I am talking about, is a use-any-book-you-want and anything from them gestalt campaign aimed at hordes of vicious monsters, disgustingly powerful PC's, and Mountains of treasure.

For PsiWar powers, go with all the Claws of the Beast powers. Wildshape into a War Troll, expand, and tear em up into tiny bloody shreds.

I'm in a game where I'm a gestalt warlock 21/Agent retriever 3 || Rogue 24. Blinding speed with quicken (sp)[bovd version], empower (sp), and maximize (sp) on EB, ability focus EB, and lingering damage, if you get hit by my blasts you're probably not going to last longer than my second round.
