| Aasiveinya12-13-04, 07:52 PM | I got into D&D awhile ago with some friends and was able to play for oh, bout a month maybe less, but then for unforeseeable reasons had to stop playing for awhile. I must say that while i was playing i absolutely loved and enjoyed it and now i'm finally going to be able to return to the game. So here's my dilemna: I DON"T KNOW WHAT CLASS I WANT TO BE!!!! What i do know and have is a rough idea of what i want to be; i just need a bit of help putting it all together. Right now i really would like a chr that focuses on/has/uses/weilds a spiked chain(like the one pictured in the 3.5 Player's Handbook). I know i would like my chr to be more melee oriented then spell oriented and that if i was to have or use spells i'd lean more towards the divine side of things then the arcane. I also like the idea of changing my limbs into weapons like claws and other natural weapons of that nature(ie. fire breathing, wings, lycanthrope like changes where you can still use your arms and hands). So with all of that in mind what classes/prestige classes would be good for this. Also what race do you think would compliment this type of chr. I'm looking for something with a bit of flavor and not your avg everyday chr but still humanoid. So any and all help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!! P.S. My friend has 3.5 Players Handbook, 3.5 DM Handbook, 3.5 Monster Manual, and a few others that i will have to get back to you all on. And i would be playing in a 3.5 campaign. |

Theres probably better options, i still play 3rd so i dont know that much of 3.5 for the race probably elf or human. |

None of them get to use the spiked chain without the exotic weapon proficiency (spiked chain) feat, not even the monk. Problem is, though, the druid could use that feat slot for something else as well. |
| pointless5612-13-04, 10:41 PM | dont druids have a restriction for metal weapons and armour? or did it change with 3.5? |
| XArchangelX12-13-04, 10:46 PM | The Druid restriction is on shields and armor, not weapons. If you go Druid, you can get to the Warshaper prestige class from Complete Warrior that lets you polymorph your arms into the weapons of various animals i.e. eagle talons or bear claw. |
| e-z0r12-13-04, 10:48 PM | Druids can't wear metal armor. No mention about not being able to use metal weapons. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Druids are proficient with the following weapons: club, dagger, dart, quarterstaff, scimitar, sickle, shortspear, sling, and spear. They are also proficient with all natural attacks (claw, bite, and so forth) of any form they assume with wild shape (see below). Show me a dagger or scimitar or sickle that's made out of wood or leather, please? :) (Well, actually it's quite easy to make a dagger out of wood, but I meant something that actually lasts and does damage..) |

With Fighter, howsumever, you get that 1st level bonus feat with which you can get the spiked chain proficeincy, so you don't really "waste" a feat slot. |
