Ok, this is my first campaign and I end up with two of my friends picking drow. Me not knowing what the drow exactly are, being human and a pit pocket ended up very quickly at 1 hp with an arrow in my back from walking away. Also partly because I did not want to ko or kill him with sudden strike damage or any other type of damage when he was at 4 hp. So the question is how dose one get respect from a drow without killing them.

get the pair of you screwed, planeshift to Elysium, then leave, scry him and rescue him before he dies.

If the drow sees you as useful he should atl;east give you some level of respect but in all honesty drow see ALL races but their own as inferier. This sounds like a job for the DM.

Well is their any small and simple things, and more probable to happen for a rouge type character. More like things to do on an "average" adventure. (Or can do in non-combat situations)

They respect covert backstabbings. So when the king dies, hint that you may have been involved. The only problem with this is they might see you as a threat and backstab you in turn.

No one should go out & seek a Drows respect. If you have a Drows respect you have no respect from any other life form. (or yourself) Drow = scum.

Drow respect people?

Basically, the answer is strength. Assuming that these players are making a serious effort to RP drow (in the typical paranoid backstabbing fashion. If they're doing something original, be very afraid.) and aren't using it as an excuse to be randomly evil, all you have to do is show them that you're more powerful than them.

There are two rules to drow society.
1/ Crush those weaker than you.
2/ Suck up to those stronger than you.

Get into the second category. If you're not actually stronger than them, it doesn't matter as long as they think you are. As long as they believe you're stronger than them and can easily destroy them, they'll be nice.

Until they try to kill you in your sleep. Don't trust them, and remember that paranoia is never wrong when dealing with drow.

Oh, and if either of them are female drow and your a male anything else, thats a point against you already =\

But yeah, as others have said, drow only respect strength.

Leave them hanging upside-down in a tree for a couple days. They'll hate you, no doubt, but they will respect you.

Then they'll probably kill you.

Alternatively, save their asses.

There's a certain philosophy in numbers. If these two want to be their own clique, make a friend (unless you're in a party of three.)

find any non-drow elf. go for a boot-to-the-face approach and subdue this tree hugger. strip the elf naked, gag it, slap it in chains & manacles. repeat a few times. give to drow as a present to with as he/she/they pleases.

at best you will be trustworthy as you have shown eagerness to help them... and humiliate a few non-drow elves. if they ask you to gut those surface dwellers, do it with a dagger and without flinching. give that dagger a few twists for extra pain. you may want to salt the wounds. aid them in all their endevors. be a bit submissive but stick to your guns, that you want to help but not let them walk over you.

You will need to understand a little about drow culture. A drow community is a collection of families each battling for power and rank. The only way for a house to gain rank(and thus power) is for a higher ranked house to be destroyed. It is against Drow law for any family to attack another house. So these coups must be done in secret and with 100% efficiency. If one member of a house survives and attack by another house all that member needs to do is accuse the attacking house and the divine wrath of Lolth (via high priestess) with destroy the accused house.

All drow females have a higher standing in society than the males. Males are for breeding. Priestesses of Lolth are the highest rank of female. Wizards are the highest rank of male.

Lolth demands sacrifices. Surface elves make great sacrifices, but Lolth prefers Drow sacrifices, females are better than males, priestesses are the best. The higher the rank the better.

There entire society is based on the accumulation of power.

You may never get there respect, in order to form a working relationship with them. They should ether fear you; or you should worship the dirt beneath their feet. Ether way if it becomes in there best interest to kill you then they will.

If I were you I would max out (if possible) your sneaky skills. Then poison them. Tell them you have an antidote and a suppressant. You will feed them the suppressant as long as they are on “good” behavior. And when you decide to leave there company you will give them the antidote.

If you are a rogue, I don't know if this will work, but I've seen a human fighter do it this way...

Presenting the Ten Step Plan to Earn the Respect of a Drow Priestess

Start with the Surface Elf present, like oxybe said.(1)

Then you show them how you are better than they by dropping them into negatives, both of them, all the better if you can do it in one blow.(2)

Make the heal check to wake up and stabilize the lower ranked of the two.(3) Then, while she watches, cut the heart out of the higher ranked one.(4)

Grill it and share the meal with your manacled captive.(5)

Have her swear a vow of loyalty,(6) then abuse your position of physical dominance,(7) use your imagination.

Finally, release her, with a collar that cannot be removed, but that conveys no other disadvantage.(8)

Present her with another elf present.(9)

Continue to exercise your mastery over her (like make her scrub your armor, or cook or something, or see step 7), but treat her like she is the dearest treasure of all.(10)

Let her escape only to learn how she misses your dominance and devotion.

Now you have a pet Drowess, use it wisely.

(Note, this requires the Drowess' role player to be sympathetic to your cause)

No, it was one of my buddies, I just an observer at that point, hadn't yet played DnD, Later I joined the campaign as a battlefield control Sorc.

The lower ranked Drowess' player later dated him for a while, but it didn't work out because he had a chastity pledge, and the girl though he would instead be some kind of freak in bed, despite being told by several people (including my buddy) that he was a virgin by choice.

Put a nonlethal but very painful poison in their food, and tack a little note to the bottom of the plate that says "That didn't have to be non-lethal"

or have it say "You have seven days....If you kill me, your fate is sealed...." and on the last day, toss them both vials of 'antitoxin' and say that they "may be of use..."

This will get you respect, or a dagger in the throat while you sleep...

This is more along the lines of what my guy would do. Considering my guy is not much of a suck up and very stealthy. Sneak attacking them is vary quick and viable but...

The other plan that I thought of is getting them both with drow poison (nicely ironic economical and don’t risk killing a party member) and hanging/using them as piñatas, until the beg me to let them down, or until it gets boring.

What do you think?

You can't.

Immediately kill both characters. Maybe the players too for good measure. :D

My advice ... don't bother, unless your character is already an honourless schgeming power hungry psychopath.

Otherwise, they can learn to change their perspective or **** off.

You don't want to be respected by a Drow. If you are, they'll probably try to kill you. If you aren't they'll pretty well ignore you unless you become a pest.

In other words, kill them now. Make sure they are separated and don't see it coming.

Seeing as they're both Drow, and they attacked you, I think this definitely justifies PvP. Play to your skills though. Poison one, and as the other goes to help, Sneak Attack him in the back. May not be the most articulate/best way, but you get the gist of it. But, be sure to justify this more than just them shooting you. Say something along the lines of, "The only good Drow is a dead Drow!" and say your character has a deep-seated hatred from his childhood. Or something. I'm just rambling at this point.

Two actually.

Ah, I remember fondly the LARP when a drow priestess met Death.
Drow:"Are you male?"
Death:"Well, untold ages ago, when the stars were young, I have been m-"
Drow:"ON YOUR KNEES, SCUM!"

Someone said drow respect strength, this is not true, Drow respect cunning and deviousness among their own kind, skill and effectiveness among other races, and fear is the best to keep them in line. I suggest getting them close to u, killing one in a way that looks easy and bluffing the other into u can do it to him. He'll never be a trustworthy ally but the Drow never are.

Even better idea: kill them both, tell them to make new nondrow characters cuz too many people want to play darn drow.

tips for fiting them-get them close then use a sunrod, lite will blind them. Gangk em after that. repeat.

Hmm i got respect from a drow we found her while raiding a dungeon and of course she tried to kill us so i used my metamagic component for a nonlethal subststution burning blood. When she came to she was manacled hands and feet and disgusted to have been beaten by a human MALE. she said she would be loyal to me if i released her. At night she shows up and trys to kill me in my sleep and gets bitten on the ass by an invisable dog (watchful hound) then my merciful dagger slams into her face. Then again she swears she will be completely loyal if i spare her, i did again...and of course she trys to backstab me and i beat her move silently with my listen i cast stony grasp in the direction of the sound, and shes unconsious again. This time i bring out my contract of Nepthas she looks at me and asks "if you had this the whole time why didden't you use it" i reply "i had to show you your place now you know you will never beat me sign here" now she calls me master.:D

But nice story aside have you tried putting an elixir of love in their drinks?

You can get no respect from a drow.

Only fear.

There's a saying that is easily modified to fit this problem:

If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

Basically, the Drow will only ever accept and respect you in their own good fashion. Forcing the issue will not work. Ways to gain real, not fleeting but long lasting respect:

1: Be yourself, as long as you're not a freak (but with Drow, that is what they may like)

2: Be strong. Nobody respects a sniveling panty waste. Make a mistake? Move on and remember what happened to avoid it in the future.

3: Walk away from them if they are being jerks. If they need rescueing, do so but NEVER remind them overtly unless they are about to do something stupid again.

4: If you think they are about to go and do something stupid, let them and let them suffer the consequences.

Basically sticking to your guns will make you worthy of respect.

However, with a Drow, killing them is always a good thing.

I hope your DM and the other players are okay with what this has quickly degenerated into. It seems most of these solutions are only going to lead to one, if not most of the players rolling new characters. I hope there will be no hard feelings.

As far as not simply horribly maiming/killing them or leaving a trail of bad blood, LCD2YOU seems to have the best suggestion, that is, if the players are willing to not be ass-faces and simply kill you outright.
