I have a roblem with the way my DM is letting me use ghost step. He thinks that since it ends after one round I become visible after that round and can then use it again (IE If I ghost step into a solid material I can only be in it for one round before rematerializing and being ejected). But I think that I should be able to use it continualy use it (IE 8 Ki uses left I could use it 8 strait rounds). He reasons that since I can't act of my turn, I can't reuse it before it ends. Its a swift action.

It ends after a round has passed, not at the end of the round -- which is how it sounds like your DM is playing it. It should be in effect until your turn comes around next round, at which point you can choose to re-use it.

No, my DM is interperating it as it ending after a round, I'll be more descriptive this time, the last post was from a PSP and I maxed out the number of characters I could enter into a single textbox. He is letting me do the reapply thing, but I want to be able to reapply it but stay invisible. I'll give an example. My turn comes up and I turn etherial before anything else, I move twice and happen to be in a square with a peice of furniture (since I'm etherial). When my round comes up again I tell him that I use ghost step to stay etherial, He tells me that since It ends after one round, that before I can reuse it, I become material again since I can't possibly act before the ghost step wears off sice it would end at the very start of my round. I then get ejected out of the chair and take damage for trying to coexist with a solid object, and then may reapply ghost step. I think I should be able to use my swift action at the beggining of the round in order to stay etherial without ever beccoming material again. He applies this even out of combat, if I want to continually ghost step through some rubble (say from a cave in) and move my maximum run distance (for a round, since thats how long ghost step lasts) I become material inside the solid matter after that. Essentially the way my DM is ruling, is that theres an infinately small period of time I turn material before I can then again turn etherial. I just don't think thats the way the rules for ghost step work.

That is how they work AFAIK. Ghost Step isn't meant for exploring cave-ins, it's meant for moving through enemies into flanking position, or stepping through a wall to get a really sneaky sneak attack. The idea is your Ninja goes "Ki!" and slides through etheral space as he makes a move action, then steps back out to make an attack. But if he doesn't step back out, he'll naturally pop out in time for his next action, at which point he goes "Ki!" again. Make sense?

(Note that going "Ki!" doesn't necesarily mean yelling, it could be a quiet, intense burst of concentration).

I'd agree with your DM. As the duration is one round it ends before you begin your turn, so although it is a free action to use it doies run out before you can re-apply it. It is designed for flashy one-round stunts, not long distance travel.

Edit: Gailbraithe beat me too it :)
Further - there are a number of classes that get abilitites useable for a given number of rounds per day, divided as needed - if Ghost step was supposed to be continuous that is how it would be described.

well, thats not what I wanted to hear, but in any case thanks for clarifying. I was hoping i could stay invisible for multiple rounds and be sneaky.
