I am thinking of making a bard now after seeing that Why play a Bard thread. It made them look a glorious godlike class, although they're far from it, but they look very appealing now.
Make me a level 6 bard, focusing more on melee combat than spells, but by far not dropping cha to the floor. You can spend 80 points on attributes (max still = 18 and 1 point always = 1 point, no matter the modifier), so basically you can add up to 20 points with attributes already starting at 10 each.
I only have one other companion, a rogue, and we want to make it extremely hard for them to actually not be flat-footed so he can pull off his sneak attack a lot (we work alone).

I'll be waiting :)

You should ask this in th Character Optimisation forum. THey can show you how to abuse... I mean get the most out of the rules to make a good build.

Lol, but quite simply if I go there, they'll just abuse the rules. I don't want them being abused, I just want a good normal character.

The CO boars are nice. Simply say what you get (the 80 pts for example, any other houserules/DM habits), say what you want (bard, optimized but not over the top or broken, melee and stealth focus). Usually you get some nice responses and can then pick what you like.

Really, sometimes I was surprised what "weak" chars players made after their advice, considering what builds linger around there....
Especially for melle types, as spell casters get stronger with higher spelllvls anyways...

And list which books you can work with. As a rule COers will try to utilize the best means avaible, that means using all and any book for any character.
