| Vigilante_Jedi02-02-04, 04:25 PM | i was sitting in class and thought of a cool idea for a character- a gnome fighter who relied on a repeating crossbow. Kool, eh? Now i got nothing besides the idea, all i know is that my dm lets every1 use the heroes array- 18,17,16,15,14,14 and that i can use any class as long as its not from MotW or CW; 3.0 also. HELP PLZ! i'm new to dnd and have every book but psionics handbook, masters of the wild, and Complete Warrior. Any help would be greatly appreciated! p.s.-level 13-15 plz |
| Rogue_Jedi_9902-02-04, 09:43 PM | Elven Fighter or Rogue. I love the idea. Everyone I play with has thought about the reapeating x-bow but no one ever does anything. I think the reapating x-bow could be, very cool. |

This arrangement of ability scores gives you a tough, strong, fast gnome. He's also pretty smart, perceptive, and charismatic. Actually, he's nearly perfect, but the 14s and 15 are pretty much useless-- STR, DEX, and CON are the only things needed for a fighter, but WIS could help with Spot and such. For your feats, I'll say 14th level. 1st: Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Repeating Crossbow) Bonus 1st: Weapon Focus (Repeating Crossbow) Bonus 2nd: Point Blank Shot 3rd: Precise Shot Bonus 4th: Rapid Reload 6th: Mobility 6th Bonus: Dodge 8th Bonus: Greater Weapon Focus (Repeating Crossbow) 9th: Weapon Specialization (Repeating Crossbow) 10th Bonus: Greater Weapon Specialization (Repeating Crossbow) 12th: Shot On The Run 12th Bonus: Far Shot 14th Bonus: Improved Precise Shot Hope that helps. :D |
| Bopple02-03-04, 12:04 AM | Hrmm...at low level, repeating xbow is on par with bows but... For higher level fighters, repeating xbow is not that good, because it requires a full-round reloading every five shot. If you really want to go xbow route, I'd rather recommend normal light crossbows with Rapid Reload. And if you're a ranged fighter, you don't need much of Str. I'd rather give 18 to Dex, and give 16 to Str(consequently 14). PS) Finally, I doubt Rapid Reload would help reloading repeating xbow. Anyway, I recommend bow fighter. |
| KAPtain Braindead02-03-04, 06:11 AM | I agree with Bopple, save up for a mighty composite shortbow and put your great stats to work. If you must play the repeating xbow, consider a few things like multiple repeating xbows. If you have a second or third one loaded and within easy reach, you can drop one and draw the next. Consider the party's method of travel. If the party has a cart or wagon to haul treasure & equipment, you can easily store several xbows onboard and ride along with them. Indoors, stick to narrow passages; that way it is harder for monsters to swarm the party. |
