| coldfire_x08-16-06, 08:45 AM | well im a d&d player and a dm that fights 4 the rights of ref saves vs. close/ranged combat i started playing after a 3h scaning the classes i choose a rouge when i throwed the 4d6 i got[no cheating] 6,6,6,6 six time my gm was in shock for 5 min. it made me so "strong" so he increased the overall diff.  :D :D   :D :D   what do you think? |
| Corpus Krusty08-16-06, 09:01 AM | A good potential compromise would be to check the total stat points of the next highest player and have the DM allocate you "bonus" points. You can then do a point buy build with a bonus for such amazing rolling. It also means your DM doesn't have to over-do the difficulty, which could mean you'd be the only one able to do anything useful within the group... |

I think you need to learn how to get across your point. Firstly you start with a confusing sentence about reflex saves that makes no sense. Then you say something else with equally bad grammar/spelling, but which is admittedly slightly more understandable. Then you show off about rolling some good rolls. :chicken: |

Attempting Translation... "I am a D&D player who also DMs and I think that combat should be resolved by Reflex saves rather than AC. I spent 3 hours reading the character classes and settled on lipstick. I grabbed 4 six-sided dice and rolled (without cheaing) 6s on all the dice 6 times in a row (a statistical probability of 1/4738381338321616896). This caused my DM to have conniptions and he decided that as I would have straight 18 stats on a lipstick he would increase the difficulty of the adventure specifically to slay the other members of the party. I'm a happy bunny. Don't you all think I'm fantastic? End Translation. No, we don't. It happens. I saw a player roll 36d6 for a single stat once (he was getting annoyed at his pathetic rolling) and he didn't get a single 6. |

It's fair enough if you can't spell as well as a native speaker or whatever, but to type using "4" and "diff." instead of "for" and "difficulty", it generally leads people to believe you are a native speaker who chooses to be illiterate. If you know English better than your mother tongue, i feel sorry for your mother tongue. Personally I speak English, French, and a bit of Spanish. There should be no 'jw haters' on this board, and if there are, **** them, no one cares about their opinion. Don't feel you have to explain yourself to anti-semites. And moving from Israel to America is like moving from Texas to California. |
| WizO_Cat08-16-06, 05:42 PM | Ok, ok ... less discussion on people's level of English proficiency and more on the subject of the thread. Thank you. |
| rogue_lettuce08-17-06, 12:59 AM | Ok, ok ... less discussion on people's level of English proficiency and more on the subject of the thread. Thank you. Gladly. Anyway, as someone said above, the odds of that happening are astronomical, you must be a very lucky person. Enough said on the matter for me. |

| ashera08-17-06, 09:00 AM | hehe last time I rolled stats (4d6 discard lowest) I had to reroll 3 times to get stats that fullfill teh requirements in PH (highest stat at least 13..at least +1 bonuses total)..my DM was almost crying at the end |
| Cifer08-17-06, 09:45 AM | dont argue with me i know beter Now this is a comment that makes us all want to discuss with you... wait, if you forbid us to argue with you, what are we supposed to do with your posts? |
| Thiez08-17-06, 09:54 AM | Well, if everything he says is true, he must know anything. If he knows how to do anything, he CAN do anything. He is both omniscient and omnipotent. Being both, there is nothing stopping him from being omnipresent too. Obviously, he is god. This puts the topic title in a whole new perspective. What he's trying to say is 'I love myself' BUT 'not the DM'. If god is not our DM, then who is?  |

| rogue_lettuce08-17-06, 10:04 AM | I love myself? Oh dear, this is turning into the "Vampiric Touching Yourself" thread. |
| Thiez08-17-06, 10:05 AM | I considered mentioning that, too, but I made my will save :embarrass |
| deafbymetal08-17-06, 11:05 AM | Please excuse me while I go have a gun cleaning accident... Now back to the subject at hand- could someone explain what exactly it was? |
| Stormbright08-17-06, 10:35 PM | Ok, ok ... less discussion on people's level of English proficiency and more on the subject of the thread. Thank you. Okay, let's address the subject of the thread when i throwed the 4d6 i got[no cheating] 6,6,6,6 six time my gm was in shock for 5 min. it made me so "strong" so he increased the overall diff.  :D :D   :D :D   what do you think? I think your DM made an obvious mistake by allowing you to keep stats that high unless you're playing a solo campaign, in which case raising the difficulty is not an issue. In a group, however, allowing one player to be a walking godling without giving the rest some equally ridiculous stats is game breaking. Raising the difficulty is not the answer, balancing the playing field for all PCs is. Oh, and btw, I think that since the only question posed in the original post was "what do you think?" it is impossible to go off topic, because by definition, any answer is fair game (after all, they did have to "think" it). |
| Judging Eagle08-18-06, 08:41 AM | On Topic: The base rolling system accepts that some characters 'could' have all 18's, or all 10-11's with one 12 or 13. Your DM is being a fool and probably wasting his time on re-working adventures. Tell him that you will eventually make the mistake of being over-confident and get yourelf killed, but them's the breaks. Also, tell him that whatever he does to 'fix' the situation won't actually fix it. If he makes things harder, the other player's characterw will die too easily. If he leaves things alone, you'll have a character that should never die. The only real solution is to make sure that you play a sneaky rogue (rogue not rouge; rogue = sneak or theif; rouge = red or blush or lipstick) that hides his true abilities from the other party members. Also, you should multi-class into some sort of spell-casting class, with your stats you could easily have both combat and magic in one character. Off-topic: I'm guessing you are Ukrainian? Also, when people compare Israel to certain places in the US, don't assume that those people haven't been to Israel before? Myself? I've been in germanry, parts of eastern europe, italy, all along the american eastern seaboard and into south america. I'm betting that I'm not the only one here who's done some travelling. |
| DraconsNighthawk08-18-06, 11:47 AM | Do they even HAVE DnD books in Israel??? |
| Nimbus08-18-06, 03:15 PM | I assume so, otherwise there would have been no point in the Israeli army banning it, (or whatever it was that they did with it. I can't really remember.) last year. |
| Judging Eagle08-18-06, 06:22 PM | Do they even HAVE DnD books in Israel??? Do they even have DnD books in Portland? |
| Pegasos98908-19-06, 01:01 PM | Isn't that account the same I saw trolling in "what's a DM do" boards a few days ago...? |
