What books can you buy from? Do you have the MIC, cause then you have so many more options we need to consider...

Oh, don't worry about them, they're still learning.

:hides:

Sorry about that. Uhm, Lvl 6 Sorcerer. Amulet of Natural Armor +2 is 8000, if you're worried about survivability/squishiness. Bracers of Armor +3 is 9000. Cloak of Resistance +3. Cloak of Charisma +2 is 4000. In general, I'd suggest something that boosts spell-casting or survivability, including wands or similar items that duplicate low-level spell-effects that are useful, but not useful enough to blow a spell-slot on (something similar to the Hand of the Mage).

If you have complete scoundrel check out the rod of ropes. I love that and i had it in my hands almost the entire way through tomb of horrors and it saved my entire party's collective bum on several occasions

Have you picked spells yet?

Any limit on how expensive a single item can be?

Amulet of Natural Armor +2 is 8000, if you're worried about survivability/squishiness.

Rings of protection are better since they work against touch attacks.

For the OP: Are you starting at sixth level with the starting gold as per DMG plus 9000 or worked your way up to sixth and the DM is giving you 9000 to spend on items? As other people have said get stat boasting items, wands and scrolls with the wand being cheaper than an equal number of scrolls of the same spell (example 1st level wand of mm 750 gold; 50 scrolls of mm 1250 gold.)

You'd be better off buying 10 scrolls of fireball (CL10). They cost less, do more, and don't blow up by accident. That necklace is for non-arcanists.

If I was limited to a single item I'd get a cloak of protection +3. If I could get a collection of items totaling 9000gp, I'd get a lot of scrolls and potions that covered my weaknesses.

I usually start off with things that will boost my survivability, such as bracers of armor, amulet of natural armor, and cloak of resistance. After that, casting boosts and general use items are good.

If you're the main caster, getting a variety of scrolls with useful spells you don't know is very helpful.

I'm curious, what's your DM using that has the Temple of Elemental Evil in 3.5 rule format?

A Memento Magica 1 is cheaper than Bracers of Armor +4 (or +3, for that matter), and if you know Mage Armor anyway, it works about as well. Then there's the +1 Twilight Mithral Chain Shirt-- +5 armor, max Dex +6, -0 check, 0% ASF for 5100gp (cheaper than Bracers of Armor +3). And no, you don't need to be proficient; the only penalty for nonproficiency is that you take the armor check penalty (-0) on attack rolls and all movement-related skill checks.

A Lesser Rod of Extend Spell might not be a bad buy. It'll let you get 12 hours out of a single hour/level buff, or 2 hours out of a single 10 min/level buff.

You're probably better off with an Amulet of Natural Armor +1 and a Ring of Protection +1 than either item at +2-- same AC bonus most of the time at half the price.

Thx everyone for the suggestion.Sry i couldnt answer your question but you know... working... bah :)

CrimsonDeath : No there is no limit how expensive a item can be.And for my spell i pick
0 : Detec Magic/Light/Message/MageHand/Ghost Sound/Disturb Undead/Acid Splash
1 : Mage Armor/Magic Missile/Ray of Ebfeeblement/Grease
2 : Scorching Ray/AlterSelf
3 : Still need to decide but it you probably be Ray of exhaustion or a buff spell

BugHunter : We start lvl 5 with 3000 gold to spend (wich i spend into utility scroll). After clearing a random forteress we loot for 9000 gold each.

CrimsonDeath : In wich book is the Twilight Mithral Chain Shirt that you talking about? It seem kinda 1337 :D

The Twilight Mithral Chain Shirt is a combination, the twilight from PHB 2 which reduces the spell failure and counts as a +1 bonus, mithril as an option from DMG which means it counts as one type of armor less i.e. light instead of medium armor and obviously the Chain Shirt is from PHB 1

Thats in a really unnoticable spot unless you were already looking at the Duskblade class since its in as a side item, but very handy :D

Twilight is also in the Book of Exalted Deeds and, unless I'm mistaken, the Magic Item Compendium.

Twilight is great if your DM allows it. I ban it in my games. Way too cheesy.

+1 on twilight!

I don't know íf you have a healer.. But a healing belt from MIC is really good for it's price.
