Yeah Gestalt is pretty cheesy, but I was interested to see what others thought some awesome combos would be, don't worry about roleplay scenarios that would make sense, just classes, and use any books.

paladin/rogue
swordsage/warmage

Any other thoughts would be great. Thanks.

Anything alongside either Survivor or Warhulk

Straight Druid up one side and then for a PRC take Beastmaster up the other (your animal companion becomes insane)

Paladin/Druid (I believe there is a feat that lets you treat your special mount as your animal companion)

I am a freak of Arcanists (check out my survey on the topic ;-)), so for me the best combos are either Warlock/Sorcerer (especially if CE) or Wizard/Sorcerer or, better yet, Wizard/Wu Jen (you need only Int, not Cha). Monke is also pretty awesome in just any combination.

Paladin/warmage- use a two-hander so you always have a free hand, ride into the middle of battle and release hell

Dude, you go for Archivist/Wizard, both are int based, one is divine while the other is arcane. All in all, way better than the others.

I could see an archer monk/cleric with Zen Archery be pretty devastating.

Using psionics: soulknife/fighter (work a lot better than a single of either), Psion/wizard (still suffers from action/round)

Maybe, but arcanists rock!^^ Seriously though, the idea is rather good, as it probably is the best way for becoming a Mystic Theurge, and learns to cast pretty much every spell.
But still, Wizards and their breed are simply awesome.

Goliath Barbarian/Incarnate. By level 16, this guy could deal over 100 points of damage with his power attack per hit (usually hit 3 out of 4 times per round), could fly, have true seeing, over 300 HP, could be immune to negative levels, CON damage, ability drain, get an SR of up to 32, had a +7 incarnate weapon, could boost his AC up to the 50 range, this list just goes on. If he could heal himself, I don't think he could be stopped. I'm just glad he didn't take frenzied berserker.

warlock/rogue could by using the invocation that focuses you EB into a melee weapon with a rapier and has weapon finesse, imp crit EB and improved feint along with a wand of wraithstrike and all of the ones allowing you to sneak the not sneak attackable things

9d6 eb, 1d6 rapier, 10d6 sneak, +str, +whatever magic you have on it. 20d6 points of damage average is 70 points of damage and on a 19-20 and confirmed its 30d6 averaging 105 damage without magic enhancements or str mods.

Playing a warlock/rogue right now (not literally:D).
I am having great fun with it as the classes compliment each other very well.

Ranger/Druid (all the great saves, good skill selection, and surprisingly powerful ranged blaster, especially if using spells from Complete Divine, Complete Adventurer, Spell Compendium)
Rogue/Anything (best skill points and selection, reflex save, sneak attack, evasion, uncanny dodge)
Fighter/Anything (great BAB, great hit points, fort save and a crapload of feats that you get for free, so you don't have to waste your normal feats on combat abilities).
Sorceror/Wizard (Why? Because you can! Decent skill selection, and twice the arcane power! Use the wizard spells for buffs and utility spells, and use the sorceror spells to level everything in your way. Crappy saves and crappy hit points might be a letdown, but nothing a few buffs and False Life can't fix. Or, Sorceror/Cleric works just as well - cleric spells for healing and buffs, sorceror spells for combat).

fighter/monk, switching out from monk into various prestiges and possibly warblade. you get access to weapon supremacy, a bunch of feats to make multi-trick characters (superior grapplers, chain users, etc), and you get a full bab.

Can anyone say feats?

I just had an awesome idea.

Duskblade//Lurk

Channel Touch of Idiocy with a full attack, finish em off with the Mental Assault augment (nowhere does it say it can't drop Int or Wis below 1). Reduce them to a drooling heap.

I'm sure there are other augments that could be good combined with other Duskblade spells, but this one immediately jumped out at me.

Full BAB, all good saves, D8 hit die, both use Int as their primary casting stat.

Yes. Yes they are. Easily my favorite character type.

Fighter or Druid with just about anything.
Scout/Rogue or Scout/Wizard, then go OBI or Arcane Archer (or both?) and layeth the smack down from far far away.
Fighter/Cleric or Monk/Cleric. I prefer Fighter, especially if you have your Wis just high enough to get the tasty tasty buff spells and healing. No spell failure, fight all day.
Swashbuckler/Monk, then go Duellist later on. Pretty much every stat counts toward your AC at least once. If you want to really twink this over, tack on Vow of Poverty.
Wizard/Archivist would be disgusting in Gestalt. I have a Mystic Theurge with these and he's disgusting even without Gestalt.
Ranger/Scout or Ranger/Rogue then go Dervish/Tempest later on. Whirlwind of pain anyone?

The CO boards have a huge load of these.
By the way, a note on PrCs. YOu cannot have 2 PrCs at the same time, and you cannot use "mixture" classes like Mystic Theurge.

Some characters from my 3 year Gestalt game...

3rd most powerful:

Druid/Sorceror w/ Natural Spell feat:

"I'm a sparrow. I'm 80 feet up, and I'm blasting the living daylights out of anything that moves. So, can they hit a tiny target from that distance?"

2nd most powerful:

Cleric (Wee Jas)/Necromancer

Do I have to explain this one?

Most Powerful, and broken in half...

Barbarian/Cleric (Kord) w/ the Strength Domain & Levels in Frenzied Berserker (Who always cast Heroic Might before a battle):

Rage+Frenzy+Str. Domain (Cleric Level to Strength: 1/day)+ size increase...

"So, do I cleave the dragon?" (Yes, that is an actual quote from the game.)

I currently have a warlock in my own campaign and considered a while ago how much he could rock when combined with the Scout class from the Complete Adventurer. A fast-moving target that blasts with supernatural blasts which power up when he moves.

Or a scout/fighter with the improvements to Spring Attack from the PHBII

My preferences:

Monk/Fighter: All good saves, full BAB, good HD, and with the bonus feats you have numerous angles to play the monk side of the equation. MAD is a problem but no worst then playing a straight single class monk.

Wizard/Psion: Single "casting" stat that benefits both sides. Lots of ways to play this combo to good effect.

Psi-Warrior/Fighter or Barbarian: Surprisingly good combo with Psi-Warrior buffs capable of making an awesome melee guy. MAD is a slight problem due to Wisdom being important.

Monk/Cleric: Good synergy on the Wisdom stat between the two classes. MAD is a problem but no worst then a straight cleric or a straight monk in my opinion.

Fighter or Barbarian/Cleric: Makes the cleric buff spells even more dangerous in the hands of a full BAB class.

Fighter/Rogue: Full BAB, TWF rogue is now extremely dangerous since they got the HD to survive retaliatory attacks. Toss in Karmic Strike into the mix and the right position and you get counter sneak attacks to boot.

In general, fighters are very appealing in gestalt games because you only get 1 set of feats for the PC and depending on your choice of classes, the feats won't necessarily work/synergize well with each other. So the bonus fighter feats is a way to bolster your feats up easily.

Psion/Wilder, because you can use wild surge on psion powers.

Swordsage/Fighter isn't bad.

Is that true? My UA is on loan.

It be in the SRD.

A gestalt character can’t combine two prestige classes at any level, although it’s okay to combine a prestige class and a regular class. Prestige classes that are essentially class combinations-such as the arcane trickster, mystic theurge, and eldritch knight-should be prohibited if you’re using gestalt classes, because they unduly complicate the game balance of what’s already a high-powered variant. Because it’s possible for gestalt characters to qualify for prestige classes earlier than normal, the game master is entirely justified in toughening the prerequisites of a prestige class so it’s available only after 5th level, even for gestalt characters.

My personal favourites are Monk/Psychic Warrior (great synergy on abilties anbd powers if you play it right) and Monk/Scout (can anyone say 'speed'?).

Monk/Warlock; unlimited usage, don't need equipment.

And gestalt, cheesy? Bah, I say. Back in my day we had this thing called multi-classing, which let you have two, or even three classes at once.

Too bad back in those days you had to divide you xp between the different classes you multi-classed in resulting in your PC being several levels behind the single classed PC. Nothing like being a Level 4 Thief/Level 3 Fighter/Level 3 Magic User while the rest of the group was level 8 to level 10 depending on what class the rest of your groupmates were.

Mmm, Gestault...

Remember, it's cheesy only if the DM doesn't adjust your encounters accordingly...Try going up against a Greater Doppelganger/MindSpy//Some other such ridiculousness, and you'll see it balances out quite well. I did. I died.

Rogue/Wizard is an insane combination in high levels. Even with all those skill points you'll never have enough. Still, Skill Mastery is your friend. Concentration...Spellcraft...Good stuff.

Something I came up with, but haven't been able to try yet is Bard/Warmage with the feat "Melodic Casting" out of Complete Mage. Sing a song to inspire your allies while blasting your enemies with an Empowered Lightning Bolt? Four Stars in my book!

My next char (low level)is prob going to be Ranger/Beguiler Archer. I think it'll make for an excellent stealthy mix. That or Monk/Fighter.

That is getting put in my sig. That is great. I laughed. I cried. I even died, but at least the cleric was near.
