| FireAge01-26-05, 04:44 AM | I'm playing in 3.0. We can't seem to figure out how exactly grappling works, it seems we decide upon a new rule every week :( Situation how I understand it. Grapple: Start with touch attack which gives an attack of opportunity. If attack does damage, grapple fails. If touch succeeds, roll a grapple check to grab hold. I grapple check beats other grapple check, move in provoking attacks of opprtunity from everyone in range except the object you are grappling. Deal unarmed damage. Now with multiple attacks: +11/+6/+1 you could use the rest of your attacks to role grapple checks to do the following offensive actions: 1. deal unarmed damage 2. pin the opponent Say I use my second attack to pin the opponent. It says I can now use subseqeunt attacks to damage the opponent. What does this mean? Do I role an attack/grapple? Do I automatically do damage with my next attack? Also what does "is held immobile for 1 round mean"? 1. the character in question loses his turn this round. 2. the character in question is just constrained so other people around him can do damage to him, but on his turn he can still make a grapple or escape artist check to get free? Second Part: What about a dire bear. It has 3 attacks: claw/claw/bite and improved grab. Say it hits with a claw and succeeds at the grapple, can it now use the second claw attack to pin the opponent and if he succeeds the bite attack to auto damage the opponent? What about a 12-headed hydra (12-attacks)? Say the first head manages to grapple, can the second head pin, and the rest of the 10 heads automatically do damage? If anybody could answer these questions that would be great. |
