Hey, can someone help me out?
I need the class requirements for the Grayguard class. If that is illegal or against copyrights or whatever, then, of course, don't bother.
I don't believe it is. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Essentialy you need to be a 5th level paladin with ranks in some common skills.

I think the most you could hope for is to check the Crystalkeep compendium on PrCs. They seem to have the most information WotC would allow... or at least not sue for. Apart from that Strudel_Lumpycakes is right.

How would it be protected and why wouldn't you be allowed to say what requirements it is to get into a class on a WIZARDS board?

Thats incredibly stupid. I don't get it.

It's proprietary. The core rules of the system are available to the public under OGL, but setting stuff and anything from the splatbooks is owned exclusively by WotC.

You didn't really answer my question. Why would posting information contained in a WotC book on a WotC forum be a bad thing? Is it wrong to post anything that isn't from the PHB, DMG + MM? Because then 60% of these boards are breaking that rule.

Specific game rules, yes. Discussion of the material is fine, but posting the actual stats isn't. Exactly how much information one can give without breaking Terms of Service here isn't clearly defined, but the specific entry requirements for a class is pushing it.

(Most of) The PHB, DMG, and MM are all Open Gaming License material and published in the online System Reference Document (SRD), thus can be freely quoted because the information is already publically available.

Posting information that WotC isn't basically giving away for free already is considered bad, presumably, for the same reason it's not legal to scan your books and post them on the internet. That's fewer books that WotC is going to sell.

Wait, I'm seeing a problem. I assume you need the pre-reqs because you want to play it, but if you wanted to play it, you would need all the information that follows after the pre-req section. This whole thing seems to have a dubious result.

And I'm not sure posting the pre-reqs would really violate much of anything considering it would be something like "take this class and X ranks in Y skills." Information which is itself OGL. Now explaining its skills or something would be bad.

Of course that works too. A number of classes are provided on the Wizards site as excerpts and unless it is a spellcasting class, they tell you everything you need for the class basically.
