I keep getting confused between the Living Greyhawk character creation and the D&D 3.5 character creation process. For example, I'm confused on whether to use the 3.5 or greyhawk ability score selection for my greyhawk character, and ideas?

If you are playing in a living greyhawk game, I believe you have to use the LG stuff.

Otherwise, use whatever your DM tells you to use

If you are playing Living Greyhawk (as opposed to just playing in a home campaign based in Greyhawk), you should have the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook (LGCS). The latest version is 4.2 and you can find it here:

http://www.verbobonc.net/main/

or here:

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Living_Greyhawk/

The former is a link to the web site for my own home region, Verbobonc -- I'm not sure what region you would be in, but the LGCS could tell you.

The latter is a yahoo group with general info on the LG campaign, but you'll have to join the group to get access to the files section. No big deal, but it will take longer.

If you are playing in the Living Campaign, you use a 28 point buy for character creation, as detailed in the LGCS. In general, the campaign uses D&D v3.5 rules, but there are some areas which require additional rules (certain classes, spells, feat are limited or not permitted, new "regional" feats are permitted, etc.) These are all covered in the LGCS.

If you have other questions, post 'em -- always glad to have another fellow adventurer join us in Greyhawk.

I already have the book. The only problem is that it says that greyhawk is harder, but all my D&D regular points are higher than with the scores in greyhawk, I'm confused ALOT now....

Living Greyhawk is "harder" than what? What system have you been using to generate characters up to now? LG uses a 28 point buy system which, according to the DMG is considered a appropriate for a "tougher campaign" than one using the standard 25 point buy or roll 4 and drop the lowest method. If your DM has been using some other system (32 point buy seems popular, although I've seen campaigns with higher), you probably did have higher stats. Just remember that EVERYBODY in LG will be using the same point buy, so there are no uber statted hulks out there.

As it shows on page 8 of the LGCS, that lets you build a character with stats: 15,14,13,12,11,10 (before racial modifiers). Perfectly servicable.

If you are still confused, my advice is find the local LG group (probably at gaming store or look online for your region using the links I previously posted). Living campaign players are some of the friendliest folks around -- you have to be when you don't know who your survival will depend on next. We take walk-ins with questions all the time at our local game days. They'll also be able to point you in the right direction for some Intro mods and other characters starting out.

Good luck and may the Red Witch forget your name!
