If I can assume the astericked word meant your Ranger's parents were ships that passed in the night, then try this.
Dad was a restless adventurer, Mom the starstruck Elf Druid who loved him, but would not leave her forest glade even for her handsome and charming love. Ranger Bob was brought up in his mother's world, but she always spoke reverently and longingly about Dad. He became a Ranger because he inherited Mom's love of the Wild places and Dad's wanderlust.
Part of Ranger Bob's reason for adventuring is to one day find Dad and deliver Mom's love letters to him.

Yeah, but he's "an" asterisked word, which means it has to start with a vowel. I'm guessing it's what you get when you add two asshalves together.

Of course he's an asterisked word, a asterisked word doesn't look or sound right.

If Arrowhen is right and your Ranger is an anatomical feature best kept from public view, then Mommy from previous post has it out for Deadbeat Dad and Ranger Bob is searching for him to make him pay for all those years of tears and recriminations.

Sorry for the run on sentence.
