| Kidthulu11-25-05, 07:06 PM | I saw this video the other day and went "Hey it's just like *******." but then I realised it was just like *****, *******, and *****. Alot of people I play with seem to go running into battle full charge without any preperation. |
| mythSSK11-25-05, 07:25 PM | Leeeeeeeroy Jenkins! While not quite Leeroy, last session I had a PC get impatient with the party rogue who was searching a slightly ajar door they believed to be trapped. He back up a bit, lined himself up, and charged, attempting to bullrush the rogue through the door. The session ended in a TPK. My first. Was it good for you? It was good for me. |
| TheraerTheWanderingBard11-25-05, 07:45 PM | Yes, i have pulled a leeroy jenkins I was playing an Elf Ranger...who got drunk a lot. We were adventuring through a rather large dungeon and found a staircase that led to a trapdoor. So, without really thinking my drunken ranger charged through the door, coming out on top of a cliff, only to find himself surrounded by three orc fighters, and on the cliff above him 2 hob-goblin archers. He was reduced to -5, then the druid used a potion on him..needless to say, he died just after that battle. |
| TheChilliGod11-25-05, 09:08 PM | Ah yes, I remember pulling a Leeroy. It was with my Orc Fighter, called Murk. See, he had an intelligence of 4, and while I tried to play him like that, he ended up being too smart. (You could properly talk with him, he'd understand what you're saying, so it was like he had only 6-7 int) Anyway, we were in a grain field, and a triceratops was coming. Being only level 1 at the time, we decided to hide. I rolled a 1. So Murk was standing in a grain field in plain view with his hands covering his eyes like a child. "If Murk can't see them, they can't see Murk!" It appears that the triceratops wasn't interested in attacking us anyway. But, upon opening his eyes and noticing the dinosaur walking away, Murk thought that the triceratops was scared of his legendary power. Well, he had killed 3 orc warriors in a single round earlier. And he had nearly drowned in black goo, which he thought made him stronger (thank you, Nat. 1 on int roll!), so he was feeling a tad confident. So then he pulled a Leeroy. The elf ranger failed a ranged trip attempt with his bow (I know you can't make ranged trip attacks...) to stop him, and Murk dealt 9 damage to the triceratops' thigh with his mighty orc double axe. So the triceratops looked at Murk like a cow at a fly, and it slightly nudged him with it's horns. For 23 damage. Murk had 13 hp, I believe. Luckily, we were using a three-strikes system then, so Murk only went to -9 and stable. He didn't wake up for a week. |
| Callista11-25-05, 09:25 PM | I had a barbarian who absolutely hated undead... being that she'd witnessed undead killing a village at the age of seventeen, she generally went crazy (psycho crazy, at that) when she saw undead. (I was just waiting for the DM to face us with a good aligned Lich or something... you know, one of those Elf liches... forget what they're called. Would've been interesting to find the rest of the party trying to tackle my character.) Anyway, there was this necromancer... and there were these undead. I think there were about twenty of them; and I was 6th level. Being of a normal INT, and knowing that a necromancer can strengthen and command his undead, the barbarian immediately goes into a rage and charges the necromancer. At the time, the necromancer was standing at the back of the room, with all his undead slaves in front of him. I was lucky there was a clear path to him; I was unlucky in that said clear path was lined with undead. The Barbarian took seven attacks of opportunity on the way to the spellcaster, whom she immediately attempted to grapple and pin. Eventually, it worked, and we took the necromancer out. She survived, but only because the Cleric healed her before her Rage ran out! |
| darkness ninja of light11-26-05, 12:31 AM | I wouldn't really call this a Leeroy Jenkins, mostly because of its anti-climactic ending, but still it falls under the "just charging in when there's a plan going on". I was playing a gnome rogue with two others. We were in a room with an unhallow effect on it. There were many skeletons (currently beating drums in a circle in the center of the room) and possibly some other bad guys. Chained to a wall next to the skeletons were some prisoners we were looking to save. I as the rogue wanted to sneak by the skeletons and pick the prisoner's locks before they noticed me and started attacking (and I did mention my idea out loud). Alright, so since I'm sneaking I take half my movement or so, but at least I'm being careful. Next round falls to another player who promptly takes a full move action to go about 3x as far as I did, passing me and the skeletons in plain view. Apparantly the skeletons didn't care and due to my slower speed the other character also was freeing prisoners before me. Thanks guys! Thanks for making the rogue feel special in an undead no-sneak attack adventure! *sniff* In any case it turned out the skeletons didn't care because the unhallow effect was being generated by the drumming they were doing, so they didn't stop till they were actually attacked. |
| xvthreetwoonevx11-26-05, 02:05 AM | A few sessions ago, I myself pulled a Leeroy Jenkins. The wizard and I beleive the fighter, who were both pretty decent tactics-wise, were discussing how to deal with some pirates boarding our ship. The planks had just come down, and we had just slaughtered about 30 marines on the ship (which wasn't ours) that we were standing on, so were were hurtin' pretty bad. I had been dropped from 100-some HP to ten, and had one rage left for the day. I beleive it went something like this. Wizard: Okay, i'll drop a wall of force behind them, then i'll summon up a cloud that will choke and kill about that half of the forces. Barbarian(Me): -Chugs a potion of Cure Serious- Fighter:Gotcha. I'll sunder the other plank so they have to walk through the clou...Kane? What the-- Barbarian: -Runs past, leaps across the planks, wades into combat- RAAAAAAR! Fighter: GODDAMMIT! Needless to say, I was in the way of the Cloudkill. Good fun, though. We ended up winning because the Fighter had Great Cleave. :) |
| Makuya11-26-05, 03:52 PM | Sorry to bother, but what _is_ a Leeroy? |
